General Activities
Playgroups - Most groups meet
weekly and are held at each member's house on a rotating schedule.
Playgroups are formed by matching children of similar ages together.
MOMS Night Out - Each month we plan one evening event for moms to
get together. This is the a great way to get to know other moms! Activities in the past have included dinner, a movie, or game night.
Monthly Business Meetings - Each month, usually on the third
Thursday of the month, a business meeting is conducted by the club
president to update members on club news.
At meetings we have refreshments and social time and occasionally a
guest speaker as well.
Guest Speakers - Occasionally we invite a guest speaker to our
monthly business meetings. Some of our speakers in the past have included
a local firefighter who spoke on safety and performed a carseat check, a professional organizer and a representative from KinderMusik spoke at a meeting.
Community Service Projects - We perform many community service
activities throughout the year. In the past these have included collecting
school supplies for underprivileged children, collecting holiday gifts for
children affected by the September 11 tragedy, bringing meals to families
at the Ronald MacDonald House, and periodic trips to a local retirement home to meet with the residents.
Helping Hands - Meals are provided by moms for moms who need that
extra assistance, especially following the birth of a baby, an illness, or
a personal loss.
Children's
Parties
- Several times throughout the year we hold themed parties, including
Halloween, Winter Holiday, and Valentine's Day. At the parties there are
usually craft activities for the children along with music movement (song
& dance).
Field Trips - We have several outings per week for moms and their
children. Among many other activities, these outings have included a tour
of a fire station, a trip to a local farm, story hour at a bookstore, park
day, and ice cream socials.
Playdate in the Park - This is a regular social gathering during
which we get to know new members and they get to know us. Our chapter’s Playdate in the Park is on the
first Wednesday of the month.
Monthly Newsletter - We publish a monthly newsletter which contains,
among other things, a calendar of the month's activities, reminders of
upcoming community service events, and a letter from the club president.
The newsletters are emailed or mailed (member preference) a few days before the start of each new month.
