To all the children that fought this beast of this disease Cancer and lost their lives to it
Patrick Edward Robertson was born on January 21, 1997 at St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan to Janet and Steve Robertson.  He is brother to Cory.  Patrick was born with Microcephaly, a droopy eyelid, a couple of web toes on each foot and a big smile on his face. He did very well after his birth and we went home in a couple of days.  He did the usual things on time, walked at about ten months, was constantly trying to climb over the gates even before he could stand on his own.  He started Early-On schooling shortly after his first birthday because he was at risk for development delays because of the Microcephaly.  He did well.  He had more problems with fine motor skills mostly because he couldn't sit still long enough to finish anything or concentrate.  He had more delays in speech and didn't have a large vocabulary at the age of three.  He was supposed to start a TMI class in September 2000 at the same school as Cory and have the same first teacher as Cory.
In March of 2000, Patrick started acting strange, certainly not himself.  He was irritable, lethargic and just tired all the time.  I took him to the clinic at St. John's Hospital and the doctor said that he probably just had a virus and to watch him and follow up with our pediatrician.  I did three days later and got the same diagnosis.  He said that it would have to run its course maybe a couple more days.  Exactly one week from the first visit to the clinic, I took Patrick back to the clinic again because I had missed the Saturday office hours.  The doctor still said that it was a virus without running any tests whatsoever.  The next Monday, when he was no better, I took him to Children's Hospital ER and they said that he seemed to have gastric reflux, which he actually did.  They said to follow up with his GI doctor, which we couldn't get in to see until Thursday.  He wanted to run an Upper GI test and some blood tests and so we went back to Children's ER with the orders for the tests.  They admitted Patrick and ran the tests.  He was in for at least a week on reflux medicines and when the medicines didn't get rid of the vomiting, they ordered a cat scan.
