I hope that this story will let women know that Abuse can kill you. This can be triggering for some people and will be dealing with drugs and alcholism and violence. We told Carol, when she would have black eyes from the beatings she endured, that she better stay away from him because one of these days he (Robert) was going to end up killing her. We didn't know how true those words were If we only Knew how soon this would really happen, we would have been more insistent about her not going back to him. Carol had left Robert several times in the past year before her death, each time staying away longer and longer. The beatings kept getting worse and worse. When I seen her the last time she told me and a few of our friends at the kitchen table that she knew that he would kill her one day. She also said that if she really wanted to die she would go back to him. And that is exactly what she did. And KILLING HER IS EXACTLY WHAT HE DID TOO! After she went back to him it only took about 3-4 weeks, I believe, for him to kill her What did Carol Die from you might ask?SHE DIED FROM A BLUNT TRAUMA to the HEAD.
Which means her head made hard contact with something and caused her to have bleeding from or around the brain.
I had to know exactly what happened to my sister and I recieved the autopsy report and looked all of the terminology up. I know deep down in my heart he HIT HER WITH SOMETHING. The thing that has bothered me the most is that she had no one with her that truly loved her when she was passing away. No one to tell her they loved her. NO ONE TO HOLD HER IN THEIR ARMS AS SHE DIED.
At first we were told that Carol died at approximatly 4:30 a.m. This was confirmed by the local coroners report. It was a shoe in ...we had him...so we thought. Rick, my sister Linda's fiance, had gone to Carol and Robert's early that same evening to drink a few beers. They drank from about 7pm till around 3:3 a.m or so. When the beer was all gone Rick got in his car to passout. He said he heard them arguing and didnt want to listen to another of their drunken arguments. So he backed his car down the driveway away from the trailer. The next morning he woke up and came on home without going up to the trailer to wake anyone up .....it was about 6 in the morning...This is normal activity for them when on a drinking spell.
Earlier on that same evening Carol called Linda begging and pleading her to come down and spend some time there with her since Linda's fiance' Rick was there anyhow. Linda will not drive after one beer so she refused and no matter how much Carol begged she would not go. After the next day she regretted not going and wondered if she had gone would Carol still be alive? She knew if she went, she would end up spending the night, and Robert would not have touched her with family there.
