I am a pianist, and I have been writing my own compositions for several years. They tend to be hard to classify, but they are usually rhythmically complex, and could stand somewhere between Rock, Jazz and the Classical Tradition. Fall 2003, I met Carlos Cabrera, an excellent drummer, and we have been collaborating on piano-drum "duets." We call ourselves No Shoes Apply, since neither of us play music with our shoes on.
No Shoes Apply recently recorded a demo CD up at the Knoll in CCRMA's studio with Katia Zarrillo, and one of our tracks made it onto the Stanford Soundtrack Vol. 3: Skyline. We also performed at the CD release party at SOCA's An Art Affair 2004 and at Junior's Night at the CoHo earlier this Fall.
