DRAWING: I have been working with a design idea that I call WordArt, where I treat words as pieces of artwork in themselves. I end up creating elaborate and colorful "fractal" doodles with words interwoven in many places.

Materials I use most often are Black Sharpies, Highlighters, ballpoint pens, Archive inks, and Brush pens.

My current projects are a set of WordArt illustrations that encompass a long poem-story. I also use Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop for digital art.

DESIGN: I have also done the posters, fliers, stickers, and t-shirt designs for SOCA's (Student Organizing Committee for the Arts) An Art Affair 2003 and 2004. I also edit and create art for the SOCA word anthology, a collection of poems and prose from the Stanford community. To learn more about SOCA, visit soca.stanford.edu-- it is the coolest Stanford Organization as far as I am concerned...

EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO: Another genre I have explored is video/sculptural installation. My most recent project played with the idea of projecting white paint dripping across sculptural surfaces. These explore various issues of "organicizing" dehumanized spaces, while also exploring ideas of physical properties of materials in the virtual realm of video representation. [There are some still images below from the experimental video 2 class gallery exhibition.]

Last spring I worked on an audial virtual reality chamber, into which a person can enter and listen to and experience (through multiple-channel audio) a foreign space (architectural or otherwise) without the distraction of visual stimulus. On this project I partnered up with Music Science and Tech major, Katia Zarrillo.

VIRTUAL REALITY: This summer I took a Virtual Reality Intensive Training Seminar (VRITS) in the communication department under Jeremy Beilenson. We are learning all the aspects of what it takes to design, build and play in virtual environments. During the year we will be running various experiments in VR and conducting studies related to many fields of discipline.

Virtual Reality Related:

this face is the composite image of all twelve undergrad lab assistants working in the VR lab. It was made using MagicMorph software, which is free online... so go download it. It's really fun.

This is a screen shot of my own head modelled in 3D in the computer. We use 3DMeNow software to do this modeling process. The head can then be animated, talking, blinking, and making faces.

To see more VR related stuff, check out the VHIL site.
