Growing up - Grade 6
MY DIARY 2 KYLA THOUGHTS ON KYLA
Kyla Leah Bailey was born in Beeville, Texas; the only child of Evelyn L and Kent Lee Bailey.  She was the apple of our eye and daddy's little girl.  Kent however was still a teenager at heart, we moved frequently and finally divorced.  We moved to Ogden when I married my second husband Jerry when Kyla was 7.  My favorite phrases at that age were "fingernail moon"--meaning quarter moon and that she was "Uggable".Jerry had told her all kinds of fun things joking with her and when she believed him, he told her she was gullible- she couldn't pronounce it right so therefore "uggable" Her brother always loved to tease her about being blond too. She had a brother Dan and a sister Michelle half-siblings but they never felt that way and were very close.  Jerry became her dad for all intents and purposes.

Kent was in and out of her life during those growing up years. When she died her dad's family ended as her dad, grandma and grandpa and her only uncle had already died.  She had a couple of cousins and a half sister that she
did not keep in touch with and never knew except for Sherry, her half- sister. She attended school here but did not graduate.  She was too much a person on the go.  Grown up life for her was hard too, looking for the right guy. When she became an aunt in 1994, she became Raven's second mom.  She loved to play with her and take her places. When she became a mom too she still included Raven.

She worked in many jobs including a nursing home, Golden Corral, Wal Mart and day care.  She married James R. Wilson Oct. 28, 1995 and their son Brice James Bailey Wilson was born in 1996.  They lived on a dairy farm just
outside of Boone.  She loved being a mom, the outdoors, flowers and just everything about life.  She was happy, fooling around and usually the boost when someone was down.  When Jim got hurt at work Kyla went back to school
and got her GED then went on to PCI.  She had always been good at doing hair-hers as well as others.  She graduated in Aug. 2000 with family and friends present to wish her a wonderful future.  We all went to La Fluente,
her favorite Mexican restaurant in Ames to celebrate. Like her personality she liked bright colors but esp. reds and oranges.  She loved spending time with the family and in our spa. Holidays were her favorite with those in the fall: Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas her favorites.  Her favorite pet was her sheltie, Heather who she had to put
down in the summer of 2000 because of her age. Hobbies included scrapbooking and tinkering in her house and yard.  She could fix the plumbing, change the oil or do your hair with equal skill.

On Oct 21, 2000 they brought Brice to stay with us. She had called earlier that day to say she had received her cosmetology license in the mail.  She had worried so after she took it-afraid she hadn't passed.  She lacked
confidence in that one area- education.  She was smart, maybe just not book smart all of the time. They went on a hayride with friends and she fell and died instantly due to massive head and chest injuries.  Brice was 4 1/2 years old.  He looks a lot like her with blue/olive eyes and blond hair. My life will never be the same without her.

My love for her will always live on.
