| Here's a story... the early years: i've been singing in choirs since kindergarten and plunking around on the piano since i was seven. the middle years: i started trying to sing like my favourite singers, dolores o'riordan(cranberries), sarah mclachlan, shirley manson(garbage) in middle school. it didn't really work. then i tried out for the jazz band as their vocalist. that didn't really work. i couldn't sing loud. THEN i started learning how to play guitar. the first song i learned was "zombie" by cranberries. then i tried to learn "closer to fine" by indigo girls and it was so hard i cried. the not-so-early years: i played guitar a lot more often, finally getting lessons. i sang in front of people for the first time in 10th grade, i sang "foolish games" by jewel at a talent show. i think it sucked. but i kept on trying. through high school i sang when i could and played guitar a whole lot. finally i got me some small gigs and started to suck a lot less. then i wrote my first song, "just me." the now years: i recorded a demo tape of 8 songs which i sold at a few gigs. now at college i play as much as possible, sometimes with bands(Two Minutes, Dihybrid Cross), sometimes solo. i've played at coffeehouses, talent shows, battles of the bands(got 2nd place), and just recently made a trip up to the big apple to play with my friend Keeza at the Spaha Cafe. i just recorded my first CD demo and a full CD, read more about them on my discography page. |
