Volleyball.

This page is about Volleyball. Volleyball is our newest sport, starting this year. It became a
challenge to find a way in which we could hit the ball over the net without anyone getting hurt. It took
some time and serious thinking, but we did it. We started by putting everyone in a circle and then tossing
the ball to them. I started with one very simple question: "If the ball comes at you, what do you do??"
The answer, hit it away. Once they grasped that idea, then we worked on hitting the ball harder and higher.
We taught then how to hit the ball with their hands and forarms. One of the coaches would throw the ball up
to one of the players and then they would have to hit it back to us. It took alot of work to get them to hit
it back to us, we had to teach them some form of controling the ball. We did this by showing them how to hit
the ball and where to place your arms or hands. It really turned out great, the kids caught on and we went from there.
We lowered the net to about 5 feet at the top so the kids in chairs can make it over the net. Again, this
takes alot of patience. We started with an idea and made it work. We played for about 5 weeks,
one day aweek, and by the 4th week, we were actively playing games and keeping score. It was a major triumph
for the kids, and coaches. We learned that it is true, "THERE IS NOTHING WE CANT DO IF
WE PUT OUR MINDS TO IT!!"- Basketball
