Today we did emergency procedures. There's an acronymn for this.
P------
Aviate
Navigate
Investigate
Communicate
Basically, we slowed the airplane down to best glide speed which is at 60 knots, and look for a field that is light brown because that is probably the safest. Also, wind directions and stuff like that.

We also did emergency decent, which is sorta cool. It's basically flying with engine at idle, and dumping full flaps, and sorta just aim straight down (20 degrees) to the ground. I was losing close to 1500 feet/minute but the airspeed is quite low, at only 75 knots. The other thing I did was landing, which was sorta cool coz he was just guiding me verbally and I just landed the plane.

The embarrassing happened when I was paying for the lesson. I forgot that the chief instructor gave me the bill and I was just standing there. I couldn't get the hints either like he was saying "so do you have an account setup for this?" or "So do you work?" Haha... I was like "Yeah.." And then I realized what was happening... that was just straight-out embarrassing.

Scott let me do all the preflight checks on my own. I was so excited that I took off the cover for the wrong plane. He let me do the radio call this time... I think I handled it okay. It's sorta just like a conversation.
It's pretty windy and cloudy and we avoided those by flying southwest. We went close to an airforce base and we saw like an airliner and a C5 Cargo plane. We had to avoid them because of wake turbulance. So after that we did slow flights, steep turns and some stalls. Stalls are getting me a bit nervous because the drop feels really weird and sudden.
We then went to Alta Vista to refuel and headed back to Executive. It's sorta just nice to fly back not having to worry about different maneuvers.

This lesson was sorta frustrating. I had to do some stalls and stuff, but everytime I get close to a stall, I put in a lot of back pressure, but it's still not enough. I thought I had it all the way back, but I don't. Scott kept saying that I have to pull it back but it just seems like I had it all the way.
We also did an emergency decent. I am going to take the stage 1 test on wednesday... Hope I pass.

We were going to do some ground maneuvers, but once we got up in the sky we realized the clouds were actually lower than reported. We just went back down doing a right hand traffic approach. Scott was nice enough to pay for all of it. What a cool guy.

Today we did ground maneuvers. We did rectangular course, turns around a point and S turns. The point is to divide the attention between the outside ground reference with the instruments inside. They were pretty easy and I did them pretty well. The wind was calm so adjustments were not really necessary. We did a few landings at Davis and I was coming down a little fast but other than that they were okay. The radio calls were still a bit confusing to me, but I think I will get it soon.
So we flew back to executive and we landed behind a Gulf Stream. Those planes are so cool but they generate lots of wake turbulance. The plane landed and there was this escallade that pulled up and the driver ran over to the other side to open the door. Must be some important people.
