CLASSIC
The Original MegaMan. This series bagan in 1987 with the release of MegaMan, a game that set a new standard for platformers. Later the games MegaMan 2, 3, 4, 5 , and 6 were realeased, all on the NES. The days of the SNES brought the release of 2 new MegaMan games MegaMan Soccer and MegaMan 7. The realease of the Playstation heralded in the 8th MegaMan game, now with 32-bit graphics. Finally the MegaMan Classic series came to a (possible) ending with the release of RockMan and Forte on the SNES (why?).

But that actually, as everyone thought, wasn't the end. 2000 brought around the Arcade game "the Power Battles" and 2001 brought the "Power Fighters" which linked the Classic and X series.

With its 11 original games, 5 Gameboy incarnations, and Sega Genesis and Game Gear games, This series remains the longest and oldest MegaMan Series.
