Terms To Know
The Deck - also called the stock, it is the supply of cards the players draw from throughout the hands.

Discard - a card removed from the players hand.

Discard Pile - The collection of cards discarded by the players.

Up Card - After the dealer deals out the cards at the start of the hand, the one card he turns up to start the discard pile.

Rank - the cards distinguishing feature (name) , like King, five.

Black Canasta - a set of 7 cards of the same rank, created with the aid of a wildcard(s).

Red Canasta - a natural canasta, a set of 7 cards of the same rank, with no wildcards.

Meld - a set of three or more cards of the same rank

Wildcard(1) - in gameplay, a duece, or a joker. Substitutes for a natural card.

Wildcard(2) - in tournaments, when the number of teams does not permit even bracketing, the losing teams' scores are compared. The hisghest is said to win the wildcard, and advances to the next round.

Stop Card - a card that prevents the pile from being taken.

Red 3 - worth bonus points

Black 3 - cannot be melded normaly, acts as a stop card.

Frozen - when the pile contains a red three, joker or deuce.

Going Out - removing all cards from your hand legally.

Concealed - going out all at once, without having made any previous melds. You recieve a 200 point bonus for this dangerous play.
