Chopper Bike:  Paint Begins
At long last, the bike's hit the painting phase.  I spent some of this morning wokring out cable routings and kickstand location.  I then began the teardown and body work.

First up, I pulled the seat post out, removed the seat and cleaned up some of the visible areas.  There isn't much of this that's seen, so I didn't spend a lot of time on it.  I shot a couple coats of zinc-rich primer that I'm trying out and hung it to dry.

Next up, I started applying bondo to the handlebars and front forks.  The bondo was used to smooth out over the welds, which on these two parts were all ugly.  It also smothed the surface of the handlebar risers as they came from a rougher piece of pipe.  After a lot of sanding, the parts were shot with the primer and left to dry.  The bondo's a litte bumpy in spots, but even bumpy, the welds look much better buried!

Next I will have to finish up some welding on the frame and swingarm.  The frame work will involve adding the kickstand and final welding the extra tube for the front derailer as well as filling in some holes left in the pedal bearing tube from where the rear fork attached on the donor bike.  Then, both parts will get a lot of attention.  And by attention, I mean bondo since they too have some less-than-pretty welds.
