Introducing: Coby Anh
10 minutes after birth
November 27, 2002

Dearest Friends and Family,

Were PARENTS!!  On November 12, 2002 at 5:32pm, Coby Anh exited and entered the outside world.  He weighed 6 lbs 9 ounces and measured 19.5 inches tall with a full head of beautiful hair.  We are intensely thrilled- hes absolutely marvelous!!  There are many many wonderful adjectives that we could continue to add about Coby but will hold off and let you decide for yourselves (as you can understand, we can be a tiny bit subjective ;-).

Heres the top line of the exciting activities in the past 2 weeks.

The Big Day- The Delivery
The excitement began 11 days earlier than our anticipated due date of November 22nd not with a bang but with a flush, so to speak. My water broke at 11pm.  We hurriedly packed ourselves into the car and headed into NY to spend the evening- just in case I needed to hurry to the hospital.  Martin was the picture perfect calm and laid back individual about the entire event.  I, on the other hand, was a hormonally charged emotional basket case.  Perhaps Martin was compensating by doing the opposite hummm.

At 5am the next morning the first contractions began.  At my 9am OBGYN visit, I was far along enough to be admitted to NY Presbyterian Weill-Cornell Medical Center.  This was a great relief to my parents since they were shocked that I was not already in the hospital from the previous evening.   Martin remained quiet (most of the time) as I continued my hormonally charged tyrade on our trip to the hospital.

At approx. 1pm, I finally got to enjoy labor since I received some wonderful drugs!  If receiving an epidural isnt a girls best friend- I dont know what is!!  It was awesome- I was able to continue my gift of gab with all the nurses and physicians that kept rotating through our L&D room.  After huffing and puffing for 2.5 hours with my personal cheerleader (Martin) but to no avail, Coby arrived at 5:32pm with the help of two oversized salad spoons also known as forceps.  Not exactly a delicate instrument but the doctor did a fine job because Coby did not have any bruising.
