Elegibility

Drill Team is open to any qualifying Mark Keppel High School student, regardless of grade level or gender. The candidate must retain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 and maintain a satisfactory level of citizenship.

    Try outs are held near the end of every school year

Code of Conduct

Being a member of the Drill Team is a privilege, not a right. Because of this, each member must sacrifice personal desires at times. It is the responsibility of each member to attain the respect of the school and the community. In order to acquire that respect, each member is to retain high standards and maintain personal dignity at all times.

    Drill Team members shall:

      A. Not engage in verbal abuse of a sexual or non-sexual nature.

      B. Not threaten or intimidate another member, performing group, or visiting teams at any time and for any reason.

      C. Not make graphic comments in regard to another person's appearance, race, personality, or religion.

      D. Not use profane or offensive language at any time.

      E. Refrain from over excessive physical demonstrations with the opposite sex while in uniform or within the school environment.

    Drill Team members shall:

      A. Demonstrate courteous behavior at all times, both with their peers and adults.

      B. Follow the chain of command by not overriding the authority of the advisor, the officers, any parents who are given administrative roles, or teachers.

      C. Comply with the officers and advisors in charge.

      D. Refrain from chewing gum, wearing jewelry, or nail polish while in uniform, at shows, or rehearsals.

Professional Team Environment

All dancers are expected to contribute toward a positive and favorable work environment. The advisor shall not tolerate any behavior that will interfere with the progress of any team member.

    A. Personal problems are not to interfere with rehearsals or performances.

    B. All rehearsals are closed to the public.

    C. Members will convene at the beginning and end of each team event/rehearsal/performance for Fall-In.

    D. Complete focus and silence from all members is expected.

Performance Privileges

All members must audition for all routines. Every attempt will be made to give all performers an equal number of routines, although this is primarily dependent on how hard the member works. The more they practice and exhibit knowledge of the routine, the better chance they have of performing. The selection is based upon:

    A. Knowledge of routine

    B. Showmanship

    C. Execution

    D. Musical Interpretation

    E. Strength of movements
