Sparhawk's Gang
Sparhawk - Elenian -The big cheese. He is the overall leader and main character. He is distinct from others through his broken nose. He is great at being the main character , but you had better let the details to others. Wed to Ehlana, the Queen of Elenia. Belongs to the Pandion Knights, later becomes a preceptor.
Kurik - Elenian - Sparhawk's squire in The Elenium. He takes care of all of the fine points that Sparhawk overlooked. He probably was a better knight than Sparhawk, but he refused to show it. He was wed to Aslade. He was killed by Adus in The Sapphire Rose.
Khalad - Elenian - Sparhawk's squire in The Tamuli. Being Kurik's oldest son, he feels that it is his duty to take over as squire after Kurik's death. Is practically a mirror image of his father. With Sparhawk's insistence, he joins the Pandions. Has good sense.
Kalten - Elenian -Another Pandion knight. Just a big, burly guy without much intelligence. He is one Sparhawk's lifelong friends. Gave Sparhawk his broken nose. Betrothed (Wed??) to Alean.
Vanion - Elenian - Preceptor of The Pandions in The Elenium. A firm mentor of Sparhawk. After being near-death at the end of The Elenium, Sephrenia spirits him away to heal him. Wed to Sephrenia. (First interracial Elenic-Styric wedding)
Bevier - Arcian - The champion of the Cyrinic Knights . He prays fervently and would seem to be better suited in a monk's robe rather than armor. He loosen's up, with the help of Ulath and Tynian. Nevertheless, he is a helpful companion.
Ulath - Thalesian - The champion of the Genidian Knights. He is a strong, silent knight. He has a humorous side, however.
Tynian - Deiran - The champion of the Alcione Knights. Talks a lot and is always telling stories.
Berit - Elenian - Novice of the Pandions, who happens to be convenient to go on a side trip for Sparhawk.
Talen - Elenian - Young thief turned companion.
Patriarch/Archprelate Dolmant - Elenian - The person who really ran
the Elene church. Is elected Archprelate in 3rd book of the Elenium. Was a Pandion Knight in his youth.
Sephrenia - Styric - Instructor of magic to the Pandion Knights. Looks very young, but her true age is never
revealed. Gets married to Vanion. Adored by all Pandions.
Ehlana - Elenian - Elenian Queen that gets poisoned by Annias. Loves Sparhawk dearly and they
eventually get married.
Earl of Lenda - Elenian - Old member of the royal council
that is Sparhawk's friend. He is the only person on the former royal council that
was not in league with Annias.

Misc. Pandions
Lakus - Elenian - A brutish knight and friend of Sparhawk.
Second knight to die for Ehlana.
Parasim - Elenian - A gentle knight that was the
first to die for Ehlana. He had butter-colored hair and was a good tenor singer.
Perraine - Elenian - Helped Sparhawk in Dabour, but
betrayed him later on.
Olven - Elenian - Another friend of Sparhawk, he died
because of the spell cast to save Ehlana.
Tanis - Elenian - Knight that died for Ehlana

Darellon - Deiran - Preceptor of the Alcione Knights.
Komier - Thalesian - Preceptor of the Genidian Knights.

Other Friendly Thieves
Platime - Elenian - Head thief in Cimmura. Ends up being tricked in to serving Ehlana for life.
Stragen - Thalesian - Head Thief in Emsat. Strives to make his employees more elegant than other thieves.
Meland - Deiran - Head Thief in Acie.
Tel - Thalesian - Thief that helps Sparhawk and Co. in Thalesia during their quest for the Bhelliom.
He is a subordinate to Stragen.

Friendly Churchmen
Bergsten - Thalesian - A warlike patriarch that would probably
be better suited as a Knight or Preceptor than a patriarch.
Emban - Elenian - Patriarch of Ucera. Fat, jolly patriarch that had a serious side,
a very persuasive person.
Dolmant - Elenian - Patriarch of Demos. The person who really ran
the Elene church. Is elected Archprelate in 3rd book of the Elenium. Was a Pandion Knight in his youth.
Ortzel - Lamork - A patriarch that was very firm in
his beliefs, but eventually loosened and shows a brusque side in the Basilica.
Yarris - ?? - Patriarch of Vardenais. Helps Dolmant
prevent Lycheas legitimisation.

Benign Churchmen
Cluvonus - ?? - The current archprelate that dies in
The Sapphire Rose.
Arasham - Rendorish - The senile and aged leader of
the Eshandist Heresy. He refuses to attack the Elene church under a ruse by Sparhawk.
He is poisoned by Martel in The Sapphire Rose.

Unfriendly Churchmen
Annias - Elenian - Primate of Cimmura who poisons
Queen Ehlana and plots to be elected to the archprelacy. He is in league with
Azash. He is killed by Azash.
Makova - Arcian? - Patriarch that was bought by Annias, who even supports
him when the tide turns and Annias is no longer able to pay him. Finally flees. He
is the voice of Annias in the Basilica, since only Patriarchs can speak during
sessions of the Hierocracy in the Basilica.

Ulesim - Rendorish - Leader that took over the Eshandist
movement after that murder of Arasham. He is a complete idiot and is easily controlled by Martel. He is
subverted by Martel to attack on Chyrellos.

Annias's Gang
Annias - Elenian - Primate of Cimmura who poisons
Queen Ehlana and plots to be elected to the archprelacy. He is in league with
Azash. He is killed by Azash.
Makova - Arcian? - Patriarch that was bought by Annias, who even supports
him when the tide turns and Annias is no longer able to pay him. Finally flees
from Chyrellos in The Sapphire Rose.
Lycheas - Elenian - Son of Arissa and Annias. He
becomes the Prince Regent when Ehlana is poisoned. He is beheaded by Ulath.
Arissa - Elenian - Promiscuous sister of King Aldreas.
He wants to try to marry him, but Sparhawk's father strictly forbids it. Takes
poison.
Baron Harparin - Elenian - Member of the royal council
that favored Annias and had an unhealthy interest in small children. He is
beheaded by Ulath.
Otha - Styric/Zemoch - Servant of the evil god Azash.
He led a campaign against the west that caused famine for 100 years.
He is very fat and cannot move around much, and his magic is sloppy. He is killed
by Azash.
Gods and Goddesses
Aphrael - Styric Goddess - She is a Younger God of Styricum
that aids Sparhawk and his companions. She takes the forms of little girls to make
her more loveable and agreeable.
Azash - Zemoch God - Evil Elder God of Styricum that
wishes to plunder the world and enslave mankind. He is finally destroyed by
Bhelliom.
Elene God - His true name is a closely guarded Church secret.
He is a bit inaccessible but is incredibly powerful due to his great numbers
of worshippers.
The Troll Gods - There are 5 gods of the trolls that represent
a Troll's basic instincts. They are Ghworg (god of war),Khwaj (god of fire),
Ghnomb (god of eat), Zoka (god of mating),
and Shlee (god of ice.)

Azash's creatures
Damork - Creature drawn from hell that is very powerful, but
stupid.
Seeker - Insect-like creature that can poison men and then
take control of their mind. After it no longer needs a man's help, it devours
the man. The adult version of the Seeker is not controllable, cannot eat, and
it's sole purpose during this time is to reproduce. If it doesn't reproduce
within 2 weeks, it dies.

Aphrael's Incarnations
Flute - first appearing as a Styric foundling, Sparhawk and Co. take
her along on their many journeys. It is at the end of
The Ruby Knight that she reveals her true identity. She is very loveable,
and used pipes to cast her spells instead of her voice.
Danae - when Azash was destroyed, she was very frightened and toook
shelter in Ehlana's womb. She then was born to them. She is very bright and has
a personality mysteriously like Flute's.
Aphrael's True Form - Aphrael's true form is of a young woman, but
but she almost never uses that form because little girls are so much more loveable.
Aphrael says she has had many more incarnations, but she never mentions them.
