Posted in my classroom were The Jones Laws. Part of one class day each semester was a lecture associated with The Jones Laws, including an explanation and reasoning of each. I let my students know that if I ever caught any of them later in life violating any of The Jones Laws, I reserved the right to slap them.

1. Never get married until you are at least 25 years old.
2. Never buy any vehicle unless you can have it paid for in three years or less.
3. If you ever break up with somebody, don't get back together with him or her ever again.
4. Never lower your standards.
5. When flying in enemy territory, always stay under the radar.
