Curriculum Overview
|
|
The beginning curriculum consists of a series of drills, exercises, techniques, and forms along with sparring. This curriculum develops fundamental kicking and striking skills as well as Chin Na, take down and power generation basics. In a vein similar to the original Jing Wu curriculum, 10 fundamental forms are utilized to provide the foundation for more advanced core material. These 10 forms consist of 7 solo hand/leg forms, 1 solo weapon form, a two person hand/leg form and a two person weapon form. With the exception of three of the forms, the material remains different than the Jing Wu curriculum. Once a student has mastered the fundamental material they may move to the core curriculum which consists of more sophisticated techniques, drills, take downs, Chin Na, sparring and forms. The core My Jong Law Horn forms include 11 solo hand/leg forms, eight of which are advanced Law Horn Muen hand/leg forms. There is also a couple dozen two person hand/leg and weapon forms as well as 30 solo weapon forms. Additional material from Tai Chi Praying Mantis and Dao Gar Liang Yi remains an integral component of this lineage and elements from both these styles are also taught at the discretion of Sifu Wong. |
