Titanium Dioxide � a safe, paraben-free sun protection! Works on the same principle as zinc oxide, reflecting harmful UV rays, but is ground microfine and so can be used in lotions or creams and won�t leave you looking like a cricket player(!). Also available pre-mixed with coconut oil under the name Tiosol from some sources.
INCI name: Titanium Dioxide, Dimethicane

VE Emulsifier  - used in combination with MF Emulsifier, and derived from coconut and palm kernel oils. Distributed by Aromantic, and one of the emulsifiers I have had very good results with.
INCI name: Glyceryl stearate

Vitamin A Palmitate
� the �retinol� so beloved of the cosmetics industry. Added to products for dry or mature skin or to treat some infections or skin problems. NB � high doses of vitamin A should be avoided in pregnancy.
INCI name: Retinol palmitate

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) � available as simulated or natural vitamin E, and added to skincare products both for its antioxidant effect and to combat rancidity in creams etc.
INCI name: Tocopherol acetate

Witch Hazel Extract - witch hazel contains natural tannins and saponins and is an excellent astringent and antiseptic. The extract can be added to toners, creams, gels and deodorants without giving an overpowering smell.
INCI name: Glycerine, Hamamelis virginiana

Zinc Oxide � a mineral powder used in sun protection recipes.
