Child-Sized Pieces of
Strawberry Shortcake Furniture
Kenner and American Greetings Corporation teamed up to make little girls' dreams come true!  Not only did they create dolls and their accessories, but they also made accessories and furniture to decorate bedrooms and playrooms.  Over the past few years, I have become dedicated to obtaining ALL the styles of Strawberry Shortcake child-sized furniture.  Some pieces are very common, like the wooden bookshelf with three levels and growth chart.  Others are seen very rarely seen, like the hanging wall cabinet with Mint Tulip and Strawberry Shortcake, and the stepstool/mini chair combo.  All pictures that you see here are part of my personal collection, unless otherwise stated.  I am also putting a general price guide, although if you are familiar with eBay, you know that prices and availability change like the weather!

Below, you will find (for most pieces of furniture) two pictures of each piece.  The first piece is the furniture empty or "unfilled," and the second picture will show you how I have it used for display in my room.  I thought it would be nice to share ideas on how to display your collection!

The best thing about having child-sized furniture as part of your collection is that it looks ADORABLE in your room with your collection displayed on top of or inside it! 

The worst part is paying the shipping fees!  A large piece of furniture (disassembled) can run up to $40 for shipping, and a small piece can probably cost about $10 to ship.  If you are buying this online, I highly recommend you request that your seller ship through UPS-- they are about 30% cheaper than the U.S. Post Office!  (Sorry, Uncle Sam!)

Mary's Garden
On the easel tray I have my glitter paint kits.  On the floor leaning against the legs are the decorative plaques.
I got this from a web site in the summer of '03 for $45.  I have seen it on eBay a few times, but the price has always been in the $40-$60 range.  It has a little stand for your artwork at the bottom, and I have my glitter paint-by-numbers displayed on it in my room.
Bench
(with toybox under seat)
There are two variations of this bench-toybox combination.  The one pictured here with Blueberry Muffin, Strawberry Shortcake, Lemon Meringue, Apricot and Huckleberry Pie is a little smaller than the other one (shown to the right).  This one (left) only has three spindles on the back of the seat, but mine (the larger one) has six spindles.  Also, mine has a different graphic: Strawberry Shortcake and Apricot in front of a white picket fence.  If you have the smaller bench-toybox for sale, please email me at [email protected].  My friend Saramae found hers at a church rummage sale for $1, but these usually sell for between $50-$80.

Notice the different graphics on the bottom of my bench-toybox!  I think this bigger variation is more rare than the smaller one but I'm not positive.  I've seen the smaller one on eBay quite a few times, but I've only seen this one a couple.  I won mine for $76 in the winter of 2004.
Coat Rack
(hangs on wall or back of door)
These are very common.  There are three wooden pegs on a giant strawberry, and it mounts to the wall or door.  I paid about $15 for mine, and they are on eBay frequently for anywhere between $10-$30.
Hanging from my wall rack are some pillow Christmas ornaments, a small canvas bag ($.05 at a garage sale!), a pair of ice skates and an adult's kitchen apron.
Chalkboard/Dry Erase Board
This piece is VERY hard to find, which is why I compromised and bought one without legs!  I've never seen the "full" one on eBay, with its legs to stand it on the floor.  On the front is a chalkboard, as you can see.  On the back is a write and erase board or dry erase board (white with red lettering).  I have mine hanging on the wall, but as I mentioned, it does come with legs that run up the side.  Since I have never seen it on eBay, I would imagine it would sell for a pretty good price (over $100), but I paid about $50 for mine without legs.  (Also, mine has marks and coloring on it, as you can see in the pic.)
Cradle
(fits rag or blow kiss dolls)
Squashed inside my cradle, you'll find the following blow kiss dolls.  (Doesn't this picture make you think of "row, row, row your boat. . ."
The cradle is a perfect fit for one rag doll or blow kiss doll to lie down.  However, you can always cram about 6 blow kiss dolls in there if you have no where else to store them!  My cradle is in rough shape, and cost about $20.  I've seen them on eBay sell for up to $45.
Crib (fits rag or blow kiss dolls)
The crib appears on eBay from time to time, and usually sells for about $35-$60, depending upon its condition.  Mine is very faded, so I covered it with a small Care Bears crib quilt.  As you can see, my cat Spanky (Poopsie) thinks the crib is a perfect fit for her!
Desk
(small; with attached stool for chair)
This is probably one of my favorite pieces of furniture!  This little desk has a lift-up top, and a small storage space inside.  The top part (visible in picture) is a chalk board, and the inside (not shown) is a wipe-off board (for crayon).  I bought it on eBay on a whim for $10, but I've seen it sell for up to $40!
Desk (bigger; with separate chair)
On the top small shelf, you can see my Blueberry Muffin Garden Shoppe and Raspberry Tart Soda Shoppe, which are both accessories for the minis.  Beneath them, you can see some random "desk accessories," like a picture frame, autograph book, address book, stationery, pencil cups, pencils, and the holiday book set, which I couldn't figure out where else to display!
I think this desk is great, too!  It's for a bigger child than the other desk, and has a separate chair instead of the attached stool.  I haven't seen this on eBay much, and I paid $25 for mine.
Fuzzy Chairs: 2 variations
As you can see, these two chairs are both made from pink, fuzzy material.  Also, the picture on the backs (where a child would lean against) are identical.  However, there are slight variations as well.  The chair on the left is from my collection.  I paid abut $45 for it in spring 2005.  It also came with a foot rest (not attached), and is scooped in the place where a child's bottom would be.  On the other hand, the chair on the right has arms and is NOT scooped where the child would sit.  The chair on the right is not a part of my collection.  The only time I have ever seen furniture like this for sale online is when I won the chair on the left, so I'm estimating the price would be between $30-$60, depending upon how many people want to pay so much for shipping!
Growth Chart

Futon (folds out into a lounge-style chair)
I've never seen this fold-out futon on eBay, but this picture was sent to me by a friend who also does not own it!  I'm assuming it's made of plasic or vinyl, but I don't know any more than that.  Since I've never seen it on eBay, my guess is that it would sell for between $30-$50.
This growth chart (right), for one reason or another, is more difficult to find than the one that has graphics up the top.  This one has pegs up the top half instead of the graphics you see on the other one.  Usually this one sells for about $40-$60.  I paid $40 for mine.  Just like a kid, I have my "stuff" piled on the hangers on the side!
Above left, you'll see the more common of the two growth charts, and it's one of the more common pieces of furniture as well.  I found one at a flea market for $5, but paid $25 for my own.   They usually sell for between $25-$30.  This is great for hanging small things like ornaments.  On mine, I have a Sour Grapes Halloween costume mask, spools of Christmas ribbon, a Crepe Suzette cross-stitched ornament, a promotional Strawberry Shortcake plastic bag, and a tote bag.  Down at the bottom, resting on the floor, are a pair of roller skates that I got at an antique show.
Hanging Shelf (pictures of Mint Tulip and Strawberry Shortcake)
This picture (left) is from another collector's collection.  This is one of the more rare pieces, and I have only seen it on eBay three times!  Each time, it has sold for more than $150!
The collection you see here (right) is Stacey's, and is decorated with her Brazillian dolls.  Also, notice the prototypes on the small shelf right beneath the top!  Great stuff!
High Chair (fits rag or blow kiss dolls)
I bought my high chair from a friend for $15.  They are usually about $10-$25 on eBay, and are fairly common.

I don't know much about this metal shelf because I do not own one.  However, they are pretty common on eBay, and usually run between $20-$50, depending on the quality.
Night Stand
On top (right), you see my Berry Bake Shoppe (my first Strawberry Shortcake item EVER!  I didn't even have any dolls yet when my Mom bought this for me!), the snail cart (Escargot) and the first edition dolls with flat hands (Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry Muffin,  and Lemon Meringue).  Inside that skinny shelf, my paintable statues live.  Some are ceramic and some are vinyl.  On the bottom, I have a scene set up with the gazebo opened on display.  Lime Chiffon is workin' the grill for Blueberry Muffin, Raspberry Tart, Apple Dumplin, Buttercookie and a custom Baby Needs a Name (by my friend Michele) and Fig Boot.  The backgrounds n the top and bottom shelf are actually records that I stood on end.
Unlike most child-sized furniture that has the cute pictures on the side, this night stand has the cool pictures on the front door panels.  It's not seen very often on eBay.  I paid about $40 for mine and picked it up from a nice lady in Pennsylvania.
Record Player Stand Refrigerator
On top, you'll see some miscellaneous "stuff" that I couldn't find another place for, and also my mini cabinet in the back (empty and lonely, since all my minis are on another hanging wall shelf).  The top shelf is a perfect fit for stuffing the board game Strawberry Shortcake in the Big Apple City!  Asleep in front are all five Sweet Sleepers and their pets.  On the next shelf down, most of my tins are displayed.  The bottom shelf has a Playdoh set and its parts displayed.
This piece of furniture is pretty common.  Many people use it as a shelf and store or display parts of their collection inside.  The piece you see in this picture may look unusual because when I bought it (for $20), it had severe water stains and spots on the front of both sides.  I salvaged it by repainting the entire left front panel, and I plan to do the right front panel soon! That's why it may look a little "off" but I still think I did a great job! You'll see this on eBay quite frequently.  It sells for between $15-$40.
I think the picture on the side of this stand is the cutest!  Almond Tea, Lem n Ada, and other characters are dancing around.  It has the same design as the top of the record player itself, which I do own (and now display on top, even though this picture is out of date). I bought this stand for $40, but I've seen it sell for between $40-$100.  On top, the mini storybook case is open.  Also on top is the Strawberry Shortcake mini house.  Inside on the top left shelf are the Berry Babies.  The bottom left shelf is where the rest of my games are stored.  To their right, I have my humble collection of Frutillitas, which includes an almost complete sticker book, a pop-out folder, and a store display.
Rocking Chairs (2 variations) & Wooden Chair
Left to right: wooden rocking chair empty, wooden rocking chair with JC Penney rag dolls, padded rocking chair, and white chair (MAY go with wooden table set).  I bought the wooden rocking chair in the left two pictures at an antique show for $45.  Considering what buying it in person saved me on shipping, that was a very reasonable price!  On eBay, I've seen them sell for anywhere from $10-$40.  The rocking chair with the padding is harder to come by, and I have only seen it on eBay a couple times.  Again, it is in the same price range.  In the spring of 2005, I bought the plain wooden chair on eBay for $20, which is about what it normally sells for.  However, if you decide to buy any of these chairs online, INSURE THEM and make sure the seller uses packing peanuts and plenty of bubble wrap!
Sink & Stove Combo Unit
This piece is pretty common, too.  However, what is interesting about this is that you could buy the sink and stove together as one piece, or get them as separate pieces as well!  You'll notice that in this picture, the red hood piece is missing on mine.  I paid $6 for mine, and picked it up from someone in Syracuse, NY, which is an hour from me.  I've seen this piece sell for anywhere between $6-$35 on eBay, depending upon the condition.
Sink
Stove/Oven
This is a fairly common piece when it comes as a unit, but I haven't seen either the sink or the stove/oven very often as separate pieces.  The market value is about $10-$20 for each individual piece.

Step Stool & Chair Combo
I think this is adorable!  Notice that Lime Chiffon and Strawberry Shortcake are on the bottom part.  This is a fairly difficult item to find.  I bought mine for $26, but I've seen them sell for up to $75!

This stool is one of my favorite pieces of child-sized furniture!  I have only seen this baby on eBay once, and I WON IT!  I paid about $45 for it, but it's very rare!  There are two pictures of it because you can lift the "step" up to make the back part of the chair.  There aren't many of these out there, so if you see one, you should grab it!
Tables (2 variations)
Remember the wooden chair farther up on this page?  I think the chair goes to this table set.  I do not own this table, but I did see it on eBay once.  However, the seller said the legs could not be removed from the table for shipping, so I did not buy it.  I'd guess it's value at around $35-$50.
These two pictures (right) show the side of the table (same design as the side of the larger child's desk) and the front view, stacked with mostly puzzles on top.  I bought it from Nancy for about $40, and I just love it!  I usually have my rocking chair tucked beneath its surface.  I have never seen this table on eBay, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to come with a chair or not, but if it is, I'd assume it would probably look like the chair from the larger child's desk.
Toy Box (small)

This piece is very common.  I've seen it with wheels and without wheels, but the pattern and design are the same on it either way.  This leads me to believe that putting the wheels on was an option that some people didn't use!  Mine is not on wheels, but the metal tubes on the bottom look like wheels could be inserted.  It usually sells for between $10-$30.  I have my large pillow dolls stuffed inside mine.
When my friend and neighbor Julie realized I collect Strawberry Shortcake, she told me she thought her brother had a piece of furniture in his basement that had Strawberry Shortcake on it.  Look what she found!  (He was storing paint cans on it!  EEK!  Luckily, I rescued it and hung it on the wall in my dollie room!)  What a great gift!
Here it is, full of something way better than paint cans!  On the top, you'll see all but two of my deluxe minis.  Inside the sliding door to the right, you'll see the snail with three carts and some extra minis inside.  In front of him, my Peach Blush deluxe and Strawberry Shortcake on rocking chair deluxe are resting peacefully.  On the bottom shelf, all my large plush pets, medium plush pets, and my Strawberry Shortcake Berrykin reside!

Vanity with Stool
I bought this from my friend Nancy.  I think I paid about $65 for it.  I have seen it sell for between $50-$140 on eBay, and it isn't for sale very often complete with the stool..  There are four cabinets for storing or displaying your collection, and the pictures/decals on it are great!  *Notice that the pictures on the bottom two doors are the same as the pictures on the doors of the nightstand.
This piece of furniture isn't very easy to find usually, but I know that some people have found it at flea markets, thrift stores, antique shops, etc.  I've seen this piece sell for between $30-$175!  Quite a range!
As you can see (right), the Little Debbie and 1991 rag dolls fit perfectly tucked inside the shelves on the right top!  On the left top, you'll see my extra dolls dressed in Berry Wear outfits.  Resting on top, my Berrykin rag doll is between my two vinyl head rag dolls.  I also have books in the bottom shelves on both sides, and my comic books on the stool.  There's lots of storage space in this vanity!
Wooden Shelf/Book Case
This wooden stand with three shelves is one of the best investments you can make!  I've seen many people use this to display their dolls, and the scenes in the background make a great backdrop to ANYthing Strawberry Shortcake!  It's relatively common, but the fact that many collectors want to add this to their collection make the price range (on eBay) from $35-$125!  This is a great place to start if you are considering collecting pieces of the child-sized furniture.

Child-Sized Furniture Advertisements
Thanks to my friend Sabrina, I have some neat advertisements (vintage, of course) for the child-sized furniture.  I believe they are all pages from a magazine, but neither of us are 100% certain.  Also, my dear ole' buddy, ole' pal Weenie gave me a Kenner book (now THAT's a friend!), and there are also advertisements in there.  However, I can't really scan the book because I don't want to ruin the binding.  I will try to take photographs and see how those images turn out.  Enjoy!
