News and Pictures

The day labor center in Denver is having a golden burrito breakfast on December 2nd at the Centro Juan Diego, 28th and Larimer in Denver, Co. from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. It is a fund raiser for our building renovation at 2260 California. We have a capital campaign committee raising funds for the renovation and the breakfast is the first event. All funds raised at the breakfast will be matched by a generous donor. I was able to give the Capital Campaign a check for $2,000 from the sale of THE GREAT TAMALE WAR books.

The shelter in Oaxaca is having an art auction on December 22 in Oaxaca. Artists from Mexico, the U.S., Canada, Sweden and other countries have donated paintings for the auction. We have great expectations for this event because Oaxaca is packed with visitors during the holiday season. The auction is one day prior to the famous Night of the Radishes in Oaxaca. Entire scenes, creches, the government palace, etc. are carved from giant radishes and exhibited on the Zocalo or main square.

My writing is taking mental twists and turns this summer and I look forward to getting to Oaxaca in December and working hard to bring ideas to fruition. Until then they are tumbling around in my head and I make the notes on paper when I can.
