The Highfield Loyalist Flute Band from Bootle are without a doubt one of the Loudest and best exponents of the "Blood and Thunder" style of band that I have ever seen or heard. They were behind us most of the day and were real crowd pleasers everywhere we went on Merseyside.
The Imperial Corp of Drums Flute Band from Liverpool are simply breathtaking. Their style of music is definately in the "part music" style - these guys do this for fun and are not "professionals" but would make most military bands look amateur. They are celebrating their 10th year and have a CD for sale called "Flying Eagle". Most of the reportoire is military marches and a few traditional loyal numbers - all arranged by their Musical Director. They also led the main parade on Easter Monday 2002 in Belfast. They are amazing!
After the break and return parade in Southport we boarded our buses and headed back to Liverpool and on to Bootle. We arrived in Bootle (our bus was last!) and paraded for almost an hour and a half finally arriving at Bottle Provincial Orange Hall and Bootle Free Protestant Church. But, that was not the end for us - we were back on the buses into Liverpool and off at Brecks Road - finally after parading down the Everton Road we arrived back at base, Liverpool Provincial Orange Hall. Our day was brought to a close at 8:15 pm by the playing of the National Anthem and a round of applause from the by-standers. Hopefully more members of our Club will be back in Merseyside next year!
