The annual Apprentice Boys parade organised by Branch Clubs in the Merseyside area of England was held on Saturday 8th June 2002. This was the first time any members of the Ballymoney Branch had attended this parade, the Secretary represented the club flying in the previous day.
Our Secretary met up with our friends from the Liverpool Campsie Club at 8:30 am on Saturday morning at the Liverpool Provincial Orange Hall - among other visiting branches were Brethren from Randalstown Walker and Newtownards ABoD. We were being lead by the Shankill Star FB from Belfast. After the wreath laying ceremony, we were joined by Clubs and Bands who had paraded down from Mere Lane. We all paraded to the main Assembly point (Jubilee Drive) in Liverpool.

After a short break, we departed from Jubilee Drive through Liverpool city centre. The parade was headed by Monkstown YCV Flute Band - 10 other bands were in attendance and 100's of Apprentice Boys.
One of the best bits of this parade was through the "Chinatown" district where large crowds of onlookers greeted us and children posed for photographs with the bandsmen and Apprentice Boys as a colourful backdrop. There was a surreal moment - when we passed an enormous ornamental Chinese arch near the end of the parade - this must have been at least 30 metres high - it would not have looked out of place in Tiennamin Square!
We then embarked the fleet of buses for the 1 hour journey to Southport.

The parade in Southport was lead by the Monkstown YCV Flute Band to the field.
