Prayer
Prayer is more - much more - than something that is memorized or used for points in a bible lesson. Jesus gave His disciples The Lord's Prayer when they realized how inadequate their prayer lives were in comparison to His. Through the passages in Luke, it is clear that God wants us to communicate with him in words what our heart is attempting to express. Jesus makes it clear to us, through his teachings, that he doesn't want us to come to Him in prayer thoughtlessly or emotionless. I believe that prayers that are based on His model, will be full of our personal expressions of reverence to God. His words were simplistic, full of brevity and directness, while being clear and concise. Jesus educated us to present God with our daily needs, ask for divine guidance, and pray with and for others. We are shown through The Lord's prayer the ability to both receive and give forgiveness while bringing our needs to him. It is emphasized to persevere in prayer, and we are assured that God is good to the people that wait upon him, and with faith our prayers are answered.
I've heard it said before that "A man's life will suffer if he/she neglects prayer." A man's life may not suffer, rather the life of Christ that is within them will suffer if he/she neglects prayer. We don't become nourished on food alone, but through prayer we can become more complete and more like Him. Our prayers should not be in selfish motives (to receive each of our personal desires), but rather our prayers purpose should be to know God more and have that personal relationship.
I believe in prayer, and strongly believe that without it our world would be more lost than it is now. "Prayer changes me and then I change things" (My utmost for his highest, Oswald Chambers) Prayer doesn't change things externally, instead does a work within a person's inner nature.
Below are personal prayer requests that I would ask you to remember in your daily prayer time. If you have prayer requests that you would like me to join with you in remembering please email them to me at [email protected]. Through prayer all things are possible
