If you have some spare time this summer and think you would like to spend it outdoors, getting some great volunteer experience, making a difference in a young campers life then you've come to the right place. Volunteering is a great way to get involved in the Mira Pines camping experience and extra help is always welcome.

Policy and Criteria for Volunteers:

- It is the policy of the Mira Pines Centre to accept appropriate volunteers to assist camp staff with camp supervision and other specific assigned duties. Volunteers at no time will be without direct supervision and must work hand in hand with regular staff.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and a minimum of two years older than assigned campers.
Volunteers must complete a volunteer application form, provide three references, and be briefly interviewed by the camp director.
Volunteers must partake of any orientation requirements as deemed necessary by board and camp director.

- At a minimum, volunteers must:

Read, understand and sign Personnel Manual, general Policy and Procedure Manual and Food Safety Manual.
Read, understand and sign Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Statement, Universal Precautions, and Non-fraternization Policy.

All readings will be provided upon approval of applicant.

- Camp director/designate will ensure volunteer staff have clearly defined roles as well as staff supervision while duties are being executed.

- Volunteers can be subjected to performance evaluations at any point in time but mandatory before their placement comes to an end.

- Volunteer staff files are subject to the same guidelines as personnel files and will be kept for seven years
