Mira Pines Center
Closed
It is with a large amount of regret that
I must inform the Mira Pines Community that there will be no camp at the
Mira Pines Center this summer. This decision has come about due to a
difference of opinions between Knox United of Glace Bay and the Mira
Pines Board of Directors, wherein Knox United is attempting to sell the
land where the camp now exists.
Know that mine and all of the thoughts of the Mira
Pines Board are with you; the campers, parents, and volunteers of Mira
Pines. Also know that everyone involved with the camp is trying their
best to keep the Mira Pines spirit alive.
Letters will soon be sent out to parents and campers
discussing this situation further. This letter will also be posted here
on the site when it becomes available.
Presently new locations are being sought out to hold
the camp and/or camp related activities throughout the summer, so keep
your eyes and ears open for updates at your local church, in the Cape
Breton Post, and on this site. It is no one at Mira Pines' intent to let
this situation break our spirit.
I have set up an e-mail address to accept all of your
opinions and thoughts on this matter which can be posted on this site.
[email protected]
Feel free to send in any comments; whether they be about the current
situation or just about the wonderful times you've had at the camp that
you want people to hear about. I would also encourage anyone who wishes
to due so to share their opinions with the Cape Breton Post or anyone
else who will listen.
Keep the Faith,
Sanford Warren,
Camp Director 2003-2006.
