Summer Camp A Wonderful Place
To echo the sentiments of Mike Sidney (Way Should Be Found for Churches to Save Summer Camp for Kids, Letters, May 19), I have attended Mira Pines of summer camp and have also volunteered and been employed there. In all instances Mira Pines was the thing I looked forward to most in the weeks before going.
Individuals such as Hector MacDonald, Warner Fraser and Rick Book, who have worked so hard to make the camp what it is, must be devastated. My heart goes out to the campers, staff and volunteers who have made the camp a wonderful place for both staff and campers.
One camper in particular would have a countdown to the day she would return; it started the day she returned from camp. This shows the impact this camp has had on people associated with it. It was a place where I met great people and forged friendships that will last forever.
This is a sad time. Hopefully the pettiness associated with this dispute will be reconciled so that the camp can come back even stronger next year. Murdock MacLean Glace Bay
