The Weather forecast on our route
Eastborn - Brighton, Saturday July 28 2001.
Another time we were pleasantly surprised by the heartily nature of the Brits was when we anchored at Seaford around lunch time because there was so little wind that we were hardly making any progress. It was a hot and sunny day and I (jeroen) swam to the beach to find fishing tackle to finally catch that beautiful tuna (had promised it for days now, but obviously our bait (bright green and pink rubber octopuses, really very tasty!) was no good as not even a mackerel was caught). I ended up coming back with a jug of ice cream (no fishing tackle to be found), wrapped in bags and had to swim fast to prevent it from becoming milk shake.. A few hours later two people were swimming to our boat and asked whether they could dive off the boat. We offered them a drink and were invited to have dinner with two other friends on the beach, where they had lots of food. So, another swim back to shore where we had lots of fruits, cheese and veggies. In the evening, when the current was right again we tried to make it to Brighton but the wind let us down again and we ended up anchoring a few miles before Brighton.
