Controls:
* Super Joystick and Buttons from Happ Controls. * LP24 keyboard encoder from Hagstrom. * Lite On Keyboard * Terminal Strips * 75 ft of wiring * 1 old laptop mouse pointing device.
All button holes were drilled using a 1 1/8" hole bit. All switches were wired using spade connectors and tapped into a terminal strip for ease of repairs. Since the control panel is only 5" high (total ht incl 2" keyboard face plate) and the keyboard front tray face plate is only 2" high, the keyboard had to be recessed into the keyboard tray.
I only used 4 "action" buttons since I am not concerned with playing Street Fighter or other games requiring 6 buttons. On the left side, the red button is the Escape key, the blue one to the right is Tab, the last blue one is the ~ (tilde) key. On the right side, the green button is Enter and the Yellow one is F12. On the bottom row, the green button is the coin key (5) and the other 2 buttons with people icons is the number of players.
I was very fortunate since Happ controls has a local office here in Las Vegas to service the gaming industry. The minimum order did not apply to walk-in cash customers.
I highly recommend the Hagstrom LP24. I just feel more comfortable buying domestically rather than purchasing a MAME specific encoder overseas. Also, Stan from Hagstrom was very helpful and patient with my numerous phone calls on setting the encoder up. |
