Jeff Gordon, despite having flu symptoms and going off the track at (guess where?) Turn 7, fought off Mark Martin during the last few laps after the red flag to repeat as the winner. Even after modifying Turn 7, the drivers (including Gordon) still picked Turn 11 as their favorite spot to do late brake passing. Rumor is that the S curves from Turn 8 to Turn 10 will be straightened out next season, which I think is taking away from Sears Point's uniqueness - drivers like Rusty Wallace, who have enjoyed the challenges of the original configuration have already complained about Sears Point taking away Turns 5 & 6, The Carousel...
