My Trip to Japan, March 1998, Part Two

A day after I went driving, I decided to ride my bicycle around the neighborhood, for nostalgia's sake. I found out that there were a lot of used car lots nearby, to my delight!

I found a used car lot which specialized in collectible cars
and scooters. Here's a Subaru 360 in that lot, for 700,000 yen.

Here's another car you don't see everyday, a Toyota Publica.
The lot owner told me that Toyota still makes parts for this car. Amazing!

This is Isuzu Bellett, which was considered to be "high performance"
from the mid-60's to the early 70's.

Japan is abuzz with Minis, especially in Tokyo. I saw a different one almost every half hour, whether I was driving around or biking around. There are Mini specialty shops all over Tokyo.

These Minis were in another, more conventional used car lot,
sharing space with likes of Toyota Celsior (Lexus LS400), Mitsubishi
Diamante, and Honda(Acura)Legend. Both Minis had automatic
transmissions. Was black ever a factory color for Minis?
