This is the same situationally aware BMW driver that let me change lane
in front of him when he realized I was about to be blocked in the slow lane.
We had just finished going up to 190 km/h in the rain before we hit some
traffic up ahead. The BMW was forced to pass a Ford Escort station wagon
on the right lane earlier. I hope the rude BMW drivers of America realize
that having etiquette and being situationally aware makes a more Ultimate
Driver than trying to make a personal slalom course on the freeway.
Mercedes C180 going past 200 km/h at Night
Even though I managed to peg 210 km/h on the speedometer on a straightaway
on Autobahn Route 5 near the Frankfurt Airport, I was probably just going
193 km/h (~120mph) because according to Mercedes-Benz, that's the top speed
of the C180. Did the car feel like it was shaking itself apart?
Kudos to German Engineering - the car felt quite stable, although
the C180 had the inevitable "4 cylinder roughness."
