CHURCH HISTORY

ASHFORD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH:
Organized on December 16, 1895, services were held in a country school house in
Underwood Township near a grove of ash trees near the river, five miles north
of Milroy. The church's present building in Milroy was purchased in 1928. The
congregation built the addition 1962-63

ST. MICHAEL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH:
The congregation originated in the Westline Catholic Church, four miles east of
Milroy. The original local structure was dedicated on October 30, 1904.The
building was moved to make way for the construction of a new church. The
current structure was dedicated on June 5, 1962.

OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH:
Organized on October 22, 1899. The original church was dedicated in 1903. The
structure was moved in 1923 to the lot north of the current building.The
current structure was dedicated on June 5, 1960. In 1999, the congregation
joined a 3-point parish with Lucan and Wabasso.
FIRST ST. JOHN'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH OF MILROY:

On July 13, 1902 the congregation was organized under the name, "Evanelische
Lutherische St. Johannes Gemeinde". In 1905, the church building was moved into
Milroy. The old church grounds remained as the church cemetary. After 68 years
of service to the community, the church closed its doors. The building is
currently a residence.
