I have had many experiences here. I have discovered many things, especially the differences between my home town and America.
First, when I came here, I was surprised at such a difference in time. We do not have a time zone in Japan. But America has 4 different time zones depending on where you live. When I went to trip with my host family to Oregon, we needed to change time on our watches and clocks. I do not like a difference time. Then the time changed again in the summer!
Another difference is the food! American foods are thick with seasoning and their snack foods are too sweet for me. These foods will make me fat when I go home to Japan. I do not need fat!
Next, I will tell you why I was suprised. I have never seen this in Japan. Do you know what is it? You may be surprised by it too. In our culture, we hardly hug, while American teenager hug frequently. It surprised me so much. Of course, we hug sometimes in Japan. But we hardly hug friends. Most American teenager hug many friends compared with Japanese teenager. I was suprised by that.
