With the folding of the Flag and the presentation of it to the surviving family, the playing of Taps, and the 21 gun salute was next. A time honoured tradition whereby the burial detail fires three vollies as a final respect to a fellow serviceman. Paying Respects

Why do we have all these Military customs?
It was an honor to be Grandpa's Pallbearers. Unbeknowest to us it worked out that it was all the grandsons. Almost all of us had sunglasses on to hide the tears and anguish we felt. I can't speak for my cousins, but I was crying profusely behind my sunglasses. Into the Sun
The grandsons acted as Pallbearers.
