In Loving Memory of our Husband, Father, Grandfather .....
10 Jan 1926 - 13 Dec 2000
"Bull Pucky!" was one thing that comes to mind when I think of Grandpa. Even though he was one of the most soft spoken, gentle men I ever knew, he was also the most funniest. When Mary and I first returned to the States after six years in Spain, we stayed with Grandma and Grandpa. Whenever grandma said something he disagreed with, a quick "Bull Pucky!" always followed. So needless to say Mary took on to it and whenever we argued she would always say "bull pucky!"
Grandpa was a man of few words, and quite seldomly was there an ill word when he did speak. Whatever happened, he never said anything bad. However, again when I first came to states I was at that age where my parents were destined to become pedestrians. Yes. I was sixteen and preparing for the sacred right of passage- the revered Driver's Test. Well Grandma had taken me down to the Parker, AZ DMV, and it was that time. I got into her little Ford Escort wagon with the DMV officer and went around the block, literally. I pulled back into the parking lot and it was over! I had passed. Grandma was shocked not at that I passed, but it was over. The entire episode was five minutes, no joke! That weekend Grandma, Grandpa, Mary, and I went for a little ride to Lake Havasu. In the afternoon, I drove back. Well all was going good. I had no problem then the dreaded turn came. I was going about thirty or forty miles an hour and figured "ha no problem." I made
the turn,
but from the rear, Grandpa screamed, "Marion, he is going to flip us over!" Well maybe I did take the turn a little to quick, but we were not in no threat of turning over. Grandpa still was with us then.
Just recently, Grandpa told me the relished stories that some grandparents get to tell their grandson. He was able to tell me of his experience in World War II. His memories are now something that I have that I will hold dear forever. I am going to miss grandpa more than anything. I am just happy to know that he is now in heaven with God where he is truly needed, after all I am sure that God needs someone to make him laugh. Now with Grandpa and dad, God will be rolling in the aisles.
Grandpa, you will be missed and I can't wait for the chance to see you again.
