The Foreman Basement Hyde is sitting in his chair and Jackie on the sofa as they watch something on TV. They have obviously been there for a while. Jackie: You all really dont like me that much do you? Hyde looks startled by the question and takes a minute before answering. Hyde: What? Jackie: You all meaning you, Donna, Eric and Fez dont really like me. Hyde (incredulously): What in the world would make you think that? Jackie: Well, since Michael caught Laurie cheating on him he has been trying to talk to me and apology for cheating on me and begging me to take him back and all. Hyde: What does that have to do with the rest of us? Jackie: Today he promised me that if I took him back that he would have you guys keep him in line and I got to thinking. You all knew he was cheating on me with Laurie for however long and none of you told me. You all let me continue thinking that Michael loved me. Maybe you were even laughing behind my back about how stupid I was for not catching on. Hyde: We never laughed at you. Jackie: But you still knew and never told me. I thought Donna and I were friends. Isnt a friend supposed to tell you these things? Hyde: We all tried to get Kelso to stop seeing Laurie, I swear. Jackie: And apparently he didnt listen and you still didnt tell me. (pauses) I know that when I first started hanging out with you guys you hated me and didnt want me here, but I thought that we had all become friends. I think I am going to get going. Tell everyone I said goodbye. Before Hyde could stop her Jackie was up and out the door. Hyde (yelling out the door after her): Jackie! Come back! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Sometime later... Foreman Basement Hyde is back in his chair and the TV is still on, but he isnt paying attention to it. There is a noise from upstairs and Eric, Donna, Fez and Kelso all come downstairs. Eric: Hey Hyde Hyde barely acknowledges their presence. Donna: Wheres Jackie? She was supposed to meet me here. Hyde (quietly): She left Donna: Is she coming back? Hyde: I dont know Donna: Oh well. I guess I can talk to her tomorrow. Hyde: I dont know if shell be here tomorrow, either. Donna (looking at Hyde curiously as she seems to just notice his quiet tone): Why wouldn't she? Hyde: She thinks we hate her Eric: She what? Donna: Where would she get an idea like that? Even before the question fully leaves Donnas mouth they all, except Hyde, turn to look at Kelso. Kelso: WHAT? Donna: What did you do know? Fez: Yes Kelso, how have you upset Jackie now? Kelso: I didnt do anything! Eric (disbelieving tone): Sure, Kelso Hyde (looking up at everyone): Its not entirely his fault this time Kelso (looking triumphant): Told you so! Donna: What happened, Hyde? Hyde puts his face in his hands for a second before explaining. Hyde: We were just sitting here watching TV and out of nowhere she asks if we all hate her. I asked her what she was talking about and she explained that after some groveling session she had with Kelso - Kelso (interrupting): I DO NOT grovel! Donna & Eric: Shut up, Kelso! Hyde (continuing): Anyway, he sorta reminded her about how we all knew that he had been cheating on her with Laurie and none of us told her. She even thinks we were laughing at her behind her back about it. Then she just told me to tell everyone goodbye and left. Donna: You didnt try and stop her? Hyde: I did, but I was a little stunned at first and by the time I realized she was leaving I was too late to stop her. Donna (glaring at Kelso): This is all YOUR fault. Kelso: It is not! You, well, you chose not to tell her. Donna (incredulously): I didnt choose any such thing! I was going to tell her several time, but each time I was talked out of it! Fez: Poor Jackie Eric: God, I feel so guilty! Hyde: You feel guilty! How do you think I feel! Okay, I haven't exactly been the nicest person in the world to her, but I dont hate her. Fez: Youve told her you hate her Hyde: I tell all the people I care about that. Ive said it to everyone in this room. Kelso (shaking his head in agreement): Hes said it to me Hyde: I meant it when I said it to you Eric (picking up on what Hyde said): You care about Jackie? Hyde (glaring at Eric): Shut up Foreman. Donna: What should we do? Kelso: Ill go talk to her Everyone but Kelso: NO! Kelso: Why not? Donna: Youve done enough damage Kelso (indignantly): Well, Im going and you cant stop me. Besides, she is probably feeling very vulnerable right now. This is the perfect time for me to make my move. Hyde leaps out of his chair and grabs Kelso Hyde: If you dont sit down right now I will break your legs so you cant walk. Understand? Kelso looks at Hyde in shock, but sees the seriousness in his eyes and just nods meekly and sits down. Donna: Ill go over to her house and see if shes there. Eric & Hyde: Ill go too Hyde: Fez, stay here and watch the moron. If he so much as twitches tell me when I get back Kelso: You can't make me stay here! Hyde: No, I cant make you, but I can promise what will happen to you if you do move. With that Hyde, Donna and Eric leave the basement. Fez smiles over at Kelso then sits down and starts watching TV. on to part 2 back to stories |
