Electric Safe-Fence Polytape

Why choose Electric Safe-Fence Polytape from Midwest Source?
In our poly-fence selection the most significant issue was longevity.

  • The polymers used in Electric Safe-Fence monofilament are the highest quality high density polyethylene resins and are specifically formulated for radical temperature conditions
  • The best ultra violet inhibitors are added to significantly reduce deterioration from the sun even in desert areas

The degeneration that occurs with other metals comes in the form of rust, corrosion or oxidization, all of which reduces electrical flow. As most metal materials suffer a degenerating reaction when exposed to the elements it was clear that stainless steel was the only choice to achieve an acceptable life expectancy. The downside of stainless is that it has lessor conductive value than aluminum or copper, however that value remains constant over a long period of time where the others decline radically. Less conductivity is easily overcome with larger wire and the right sized fencer.

  • Safe-Fence wide polytape contains 33 strands of 20 thousandths diameter monofilament
  • Safe-Fence Electric System contains 15 strands of 12 thousandths diameter - 304 stainless steel wire

The strength of the wire is also an important factor. We must keep in mind that it is not a matter of if the horse hits the fence, but when the horse hits the fence. When copper wire is forced it elongates and becomes smaller thereby reducing electrical flow. On the other hand aluminum is weak and not flexible and breaks very easily. Safe-Fence webbing has the proper balance of size and number of stainless steel wires to offer the strength and conductivity for what we believe to be the ideal horse fence.

The material composition of Safe-Fence webbing offers strength comparable or better than traditional fence materials, its extreme flexibility is enough to withstand day to day activities, but it will tear in cases of extreme impact and not cut the animal.

Safe-Fence Polytape Miscellaneous Hardware

Safe-Tee-Sleeves
Attractive, functional, affordable, and easy to install. Safe-Tee-Sleeves fit over all metal T-posts and wood 4x4 posts to provide the "white rail" look for a fraction of the cost of vinyl.

  • 2" x 2" Metal T-Post Sleeve, 5' long, includes cap. Fits over all metal T-posts. Insulators and webbing sold separately.
  • Wood Post Sleeve
Includes cap, 5' long, fits nominal 4 x 4 wood posts. Use for end, gate and corner posts to complete to "white rail" look provided by Safe-Tee-Sleeves.

Tensioners
Safe-Fence Tensioners are the cornerstone of the Safe-Fence Hardware System. Of solid stainless steel construction, Safe-Fence Tensioners hold your fence firmly, yet in instances of violent impact they are designed to protect your horse.

End Tensioner
Begin and end each strand with a R-40 at gate posts or buildings. Holds webbing tight and allows easy retightening.

Corner Tensioner
Use the R-50 at all corners or any up and down hill direction change greater than 10 degrees. Also used at tape gates.

Tee Tensioner
The R-55 has three tensioners. Use for cross fence junctions.

Splicer
A stainless steel spring buckle similar to the tensioner. Used to join rolls of webbing or repair torn webbing in minutes.

Wood/Vinyl Insulator
A polyethylene insulator for wood or plastic line posts. The lock face holds webbing tight. Use S-16 or W-16 stainless steel screws.

T-Post Insulator
Used on steel T-posts. When using T-posts for line posts, the corners and gate posts should be wood to accept a tensioner.

Round Rod Insulator
To be used on fiberglass or steel round rod line posts up to 5/8". Great for temporary pasture separations.

T-Post Cap
A perfect cap for the top of T-posts. Prevents horses from being impaled on the top of T-posts. Holds tape or wire.

Wire Connector
Bolts to the ring hook for a positive, easy to remove connection. Connects fence charger to tensioner, strand to strand, and burial wire under gates. Use R-28 high voltage wire.

Contact Clamp
Used to connect the fence charger to the webbing anywhere in the fence line when a tensioner is inaccessible. Use R-28 wire.

High Voltage Wire
Double insulated wire prevents voltage leaks which can steal power from your fence line.

Ground Rod Kit
Improper grounding is the cause of 90% of the problems experienced with electric fence. This kit supplies all the components of a complete ground system suitable for most soil conditions.

Ground Rod Kit
Contains 3 - 6 foot galvanized ground rods, 3 brass clamps, 48 feet of 12 gauge galvanized wire and detailed installation instructions.

Gate Handle - Gate Kit
The best electric gate handle made. Practically unbreakable. Includes a tensioner connector to attach wide polytape. Replaceable spring. Gate kit includes handle, 2 tensioners and 20' of webbing

Five Light Fence Tester
For standard or low impedance fencers producing 4500-5500 volts. Lights are calibrated to illuminate from 625 to 5500 volts.

Lightning Diverter
Helps protect fencer from damage by lightning strikes by diverting lightning surges into the ground. Achieve maximum protection when used in conjunction with the Storm Guard.
