Markings: A navy crescent moon on his forehead, four magenta facial stripes (two on each cheek) and two on each wrist.

Weapons: Himself (Poison claws, chi whip, arms, legs, ect.), Tokijin, Tenseiga.

Attire: He wears simple shoes, puffy white pants, puffy white shirt with red and white flowery markings on the sleeves near the shoulders, a spiky piece of armor and what can only be a cream-colored boa. Of course, when he is in his true form, he is just an enormous, fluffy white dog that wears no clothes.

Seiyuu: Narita Ken (Japanese), David Kaye (English).

Sesshoumaru is the only living relative of InuYasha and vice-versa. The two are half-brothers, for they were both sired by the same demon. Their father had apparently mated with Sesshoumaru's mother, thus spawning him, but had an affair of some kinds with a human woman, which resulted in InuYasha. Their father hid his tomb in the pearl of one of InuYasha's eyes so that it would be safe from those who wished to rob it. Both inherited swords of legendary proportions from their father.

InuYasha gained Tetsusaiga, a sword capable of killing a hundred demons in one swipe. Sesshoumaru gained Tenseiga, a sword capable of reviving a hundred demons in one swipe. Before he acquired Tenseiga, Sesshoumaru was insanely jealous that InuYasha got something he didn't. After he got Tenseiga, Sesshoumaru was still jealous, though now because he believed to have inherited a useless sword. In any case, he dedicates a majority of his time to the attempted robbery of InuYasha's sword.

In their first match, InuYasha sliced off Sesshoumaru (who was then in his true form)'s arm off. When in need of such a limb, he merely kills a demon and attaches their arm on in place of his own. Unfortunately, this is not permanent for the arm disintegrates after awhile. This little problem of Sesshoumaru's is how he met up with Naraku.

He and his toad-like servent Jaken had been wandering down a dusty road into the sunset when a man clad in baboon integument had stepped out from the bushes and offered his services in return for his own. The disguised man who was of course, Naraku, offered him a human arm with a shard of the Shikon no Tama in it which would allow him to touch Tetsusaiga. In return, Naraku wanted InuYasha dead. Sesshoumaru accepted this offer because he wanted Tetsusaiga of course, and he was going to kill InuYasha anyway. Unfortunately, the arm almost consumed Sesshoumaru alive and angered at being used in such a way and then tricked, Naraku gained himself a new enemy

Later on in his travels, he comes across a dead little human girl in the middle of the road. Something compels him to save her life. Later on, when Sesshoumaru is injured, the little girl finds him and takes care of him. Her name is Rin. For some reason, Sesshoumaru takes to her (though he would never admit it) and she takes to him (and she declares it often and gladly) and she ends up traveling with them, much to Jaken's dismay.

In any case, Sesshoumaru is initially portrayed as having a heart of ice and stone, but as the series progresses, it becomes apparent that it is slowly melting. He may remain overly arrogant and he is, of course, enormously strong, but he is clearly capable of caring for others, even if he may hide it. He may not be your typical protagonist and he may want InuYasha dead, but he's on the right side overall and that's all that really counts.
