Smoker's Log, Smoke Date 47002.87 Okay. So I took a big step today... A big, scary step. I went to see my doctor about quiting. The last time this happened, (now look, all smokers try to quit multiple times in their smoking love affairs, it's happened to me too, so BACK OFF!) I asked for that thing where it's actually this stick, and you suck on it...GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER! And you get a small hit of nicotine. I've pretty much ruled out all nicotine forms of quitting. I mean, you're trying to BREAK your addiction, not painfully prolong it, right? All that this method does is this: You stop smoking, and go through painful withdrawl When it gets TOO painful, you take nicotine You feel better You go through painful, horrible sleepless withdrawl You ONCE AGAIN take nicotion You feel better Start and repeat daily
Yeah, that REALLY makes a lot of sense to me. How about, instead of quickly removing the splinter, we take it out a bit, and then SHOVE IT BACK IN!!! Yeah! I'm REALLY looking forward to that.
So, I told my doctor that I feel that nicotine forms of quitting are useless. He agreed. I also talked to him about the juice fasting, and he said it was really just a lot of hype, and that the body's natural systems work the best when not getting used to a different diet. He did, however, agree with the balneotherapy (i.e, moor peat mud bath treatments) as he said that aromatherapy can help, and the calming effects that a bath can have will help a lot too.
He prescribed me two things, the first is to lower my blood pressure, and the second is a beta blocker? I'm not sure what the second is, so I am going to look into it. The reason behind the blood pressure thing (the doctor was quite impressed that I understood why he presribed it) is this: When you are in pain, your body responds by raising your blood pressure. If your blood pressure CAN'T raise, then the pain isn't as great. So, the blood pressure meds is for 3 weeks, and NOT because I have high blood pressure (actually, am notoriously low, 110-115 systallic and 65 - 75 dystallic), but to help me deal with withdrawl symptoms. Today or tomorrow I will do some research on the Beta Blockers. I've read somethings where beta blockers affect just about every drug (i.e., talk to a doctor if you are on beta blockers before taking this medication, etc..) The reason for the face (haha, pet the face) that I chose today is because I believe I am coming down with a cold. Sore through, clogged head, generally crappy. So, took some sleep aid and cold pill, and plan on taking a long soak in a hot tub after final kid is in bed. G'night. |
