Dedicated to Mrs. Edwards in honor of her 25th Anniversary of Choral Teaching, this website received several letters from congressman, other choral directors, heads of music organizations, and clinicians that the Choirs have worked with. We've decided to post some of their comments below. If you would like for us to post comments in honor of Mrs. Edwards on this page, please send them by clicking here.
the Texas Music Educators Association only this past year was proud to select the Lee High School Chorale as a performing group at the 2004 TMEA Clinic/Convention in San Antonio. Being in the choral program at Lee High School with Paula Edwards and Karen Blackstone encourages students to reach their highest potential, exposes them to the finest music in the world, and provides leadership training for their future success. You are truly an exemplary choral program of which TMEA is justly proud. Sincerely, Robert M. Floyd Executive Director Texas Music Educators Association Austin, Texas I have known Paula Edwards for almost 30 years, and what an innovative educator she has been and will continue to be. How fortunate Midland is to have this native-daughter back in their community. Paula is a consummate teacher, and her love for young people is not only impressive, but inspiring. She has given herself with abandon to her students, and everything she does is superior in process and product. Her life is a model to those of us who love teaching and thrive on the pursuit of excellence in all that we do. Congratulations, Paula, for 25 years of outstanding teaching, and most importantly, for your faithful friendship. Dr. John Ratledge Director of Music First United Methodist Church Rome, Georgia

unnoticed. You are a credit to our community and a role model for our kids. Education is the most important issue we address in the state Legislature. An excellent education is enhanced when the curriculum includes both core subjects and life-enriching pursuits such as physical fitness, art and music. By exposing our students to music, working with others to harmonize and giving students a place to belong, choirs provide the opportunity for them to be well-rounded individuals. You are a West Texas jewel, and this amazing Web site only skims the surface of the success of the choral department you have shaped and molded over the years. Your dedication to your craft and the hours spent with students in class, after school and on trips, has been invaluable. Even the many awards and honors you have received fail to completely measure the tremendous impact you have had on your students' lives. Thank you for sharing your musical gifts and for helping to make Midland a more cultured place. I hope you enjoy the Web site your students have put together in your honor, and I hope this letter adequately reflects my appreciation for what you have done and will continue to do. Best of luck on your next 25 years, and thank you, again, for your dedication to making Midland a better place for music and for all positive things. Sincerely, Tom Craddick Speaker Texas House of Representatives Austin, Texas
