Regarding the Munger kids:
Hello, to you also. Am glad you all are getting together at Midland. Daughter Kate went to Brabsons and drove the Head batty! She came home and finished at Laguna, on to Cal, then married, lives here in Inverness, music is her thing, a son 23, and husband runs our water company. Kerry went to Bransons for one year and drove the Head batty! She came home and went to SB HS, living with friends there. Then to Pitzer and finished through a program at Goddard. She and husband live here with three kids. She runs the best little library in Stinson Beach and her husband is our local historian. Both of these daughters stripped for the first naked peace sign in California, are good progressives, and think Bush needs to be stripped of his offfice and be sent to bed for eternity. We agree. Jim Munger runs Dunn School, and Lou helps doctors fix bones in N.M. Tell me what you are up to. All of your reunion talk so far gives little of consequence about that.
Stay well, Carl and Kathy
Carl’s Bio:
Earle, this response is too late for the reunion time, but here are some high-lights for your records. I became head in 89. Kathy and I loved all parts of the school except asking kids to go home, but even that worked out most times. One I bounced all the way to Pasadena called some years later and asked me to marry him and his bride to be. I asked him why if I dumped out, and he said I was right and it changed his life. It was a fine wedding!!!! The board left the decision about adding girls up to Kathy and me. The time was right when I cut out some of the erroneous "macho" qualities of some boys and faculty, so girls arrived in the middle 70's.........Life was going along well, when one morning before 8 I heard a knock on my office door, Before the poor kid could speak, I said,"NO, you cannot." He sputtered something, and I spoke, saying," I know who you are, what your question is, and the reason you are asking it, and the answer is still NO!" That event haunted me for days, and finally I realized I was forgetting about the person and just wanted to deal with the problem. That's no way to treat kids. Kathy and I figured we were getting too old to help young people, so we retired and moved back to Inverness doing some sculpting and working as a gopher for a carpenter friend. After four months I got a call from Urban School, a day high school in the Haight that had major trouble with their new Head, so I jumped out of my working clothes, and headed into the city to look the place over. All the excitement working in a school came back, so took the job for a year to straighten out their problems and stayed for six great years.....About two months before our last graduation at Urban, I asked Kathy if she would ride our bicycles across the country. She quickly said "yes', and we spent that wonderful summer on our bikes and in our tents . We loved it and have biked all over the US and in England and New Zealand ever since until my lungs started giving out. Now we are back in Inverness with me paying for all those cigs I smoked with a couple of months to live. I have been a very lucky man, spending my life with Kathy and all you kids, so death has no fear for me. We are working with Hospice which is very special.....I hope your reunion was great....My best, Carl
