I
was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I graduated from
Archbishop Curley High School in
1966 and entered
Towson State College,
eventually earning both a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and a Master's
Degree in Secondary Education.
I started teaching Mathematics In the Baltimore City Public School System in 1969, and have worked at both the junior and senior high school levels. Additionally, I coached three Maryland Scholastic Association sanctioned high school sports. The last five of thirteen years in the BCPSS, I was a Mathematics Department Head with a fourteen member professional teaching staff. During my tenure in the BCPSS, I began studying computers and eventually started a part-time business in 1976 as a Programmer and Analyst in microcomputer information systems for small businesses. I have maintained that business, Southern Computer Services, to this day. In 1981, I started teaching computer courses at the college level at Villa Julie College, Harford Community College and Dundalk Community College. In 1982, I was encouraged to apply for a full time position at Dundalk Community College. I did so, and was hired as their first Program Director in Data Processing. Over the next several years, I directed the development of several degree and certificate programs that grew to be the largest career area of study at the college. During my tenure at Dundalk, I was chosen by the faculty to help revamp the college governance structure and served seven years in that new structure ending with an elected term as Faculty Council President. I was also honored one year, to be elected by the students as the Faculty Speaker for their Commencement ceremonies. I retired after 33 years of teaching in 2002. In the mid-nineties, Towson State University asked me to become a member of their Adjunct Faculty for Computer Information courses. I was again honored to be working with some of the same faculty members who had taught me in undergraduate school. I remained at Towson University until my retirement from teaching. In retirement, I continue to consult for a few select clients, providing complete Information System Services in the area of Microcomputers. |

Additionally, my lovely wife and I have raised three children. Our oldest, a daughter, is a respected elementary school teacher in the Harford County Public School System. Our middle child, a son, is a successful mortgage loan officer. And our youngest, another daughter, will finish her bachelor's degree in the Spring of 2005. We have one grandchild, an adorable boy, who will celebrate his first birthday at the beginning of 2005. I think I will save some space here for future updates .... In my spare time, I enjoy modern jazz, golfing and woodworking projects in my home shop. |
