History:

Sirius, as Scion was originally called, was a Changeling born into the assassin guild, as was the way among Changelings. He was one of the few lucky enough not to be killed upon birth as most Changelings never make it to their first birthday in an attempt to keep the population of otherwise immortal creatures low. As a species that can live for hundreds of years unless killed, it would be against their nature as assassins to let themselves become too numerous.

The dark-haired boy was a prodigy among assassins and soon tested out at an early age. He was placed into the care of Asmodeus, a famed assassin who would teach the young Sirius everything he knew. Time would pass and Sirius became more adept at his trade, though with a price.

Sirius was one of the few Changelings born with the peculiar defect of adopting new personas with every physical change. As he grew, he learned to control these minds, and for the most part was unbothered by their presence. Things began to slide downhill after a mission required him to masquerade as the princess of powerful king for several months.

Capturing the princess was an easy task, imprisoning her much simpler. Sirius kept her alive during his mission, using her to glean information on how to act according to his role. This was made easier by the princess' persona, which came with her body. Using his abilities, he was able to murder first the princess' mother and a month later, her father.

What had seemed like a simple mission to begin with was made difficult by the love the king and queen placed on their daughter. Unable to shake off the feelings he had never experienced before, Sirius wept as he killed, hidden inside the body of a girl hardly more than sixteen. When all was over, he let the princess go to slip into the darkness once again, but not before expressing his regret to the only victim he had ever let live and the only person who, by extension, enabled him to feel love.

While the princess called for war against the Changelings upon her return to power, she secretly wished to see the torn assassin one more time, if not to forgive him, then to console him. She was known for a caring heart and found she could not bring herself to scorn even her parent's murderer. Sadly, not long into her crusade, Asmodeus came to finish what Sirius could not.

This event was the first of several that led the Changelings to doubting Sirius' ability. He became influenced by the very real voices in his head, though he tried as hard as he could to fight against them. Finally, on a mission similar to the one involving the princess, the persona Sirius adopted overwhelmed him and took over. Fleeing the realms of the Changelings, he adjusted his appearance and renamed himself "Scion" while attempting to build a peaceful life for himself and seek some way of redemption.

Changelings, however, are not known for their kindness. Seeing Scion as a traitor to their kind, Asmodeus was dispatched to hunt down and kill the boy he had raised and train. His hunt would span decades and soon centuries as Scion ran, unable to escape his past and unable to forge a future.

Scion fits easily into the contemporary world and usually appears as a cold and distant young man who hangs around high schools or colleges, reading books, simply trying to escape from his past. For reasons known only to himself, he keeps company with Lilith the Succubus.

Commentary:

Scion was born from a 24-hour comic event in which we had to draw a 24 page comic within the 24 hours. It's a fun event, and for the first year I attended, I did a random inked comic eight pages long that gave a quick glimpse into Scion's character. Alas, nothing came of it, and Scion was pushed aside for bit rps where I could never develop his past.

Scion's second wind came when I decided to post his profile. I always liked Scion (being a fan of tormented characters with odd psychological problems) and so I gave him the past he deserves.

Scion's picture, seen above, has a bad history to it in that it was done the day my best friend's mother was killed. Scion is a character soaked in death and bloodstains, just as he was always meant to be... and not all of it was my plan.
