I have to admit that I am a bit picky when it comes to my computer. I build my computers to last, and perform as good as, or better than an off-the-shelf machine. I encourage everyone that wants to buy a desktop to build it from scratch. You get a better performing machine for a fraction of the price! Here is a list of the components in my machine:

I was able to build this monster for under $500. I dare someone to find a better system at that price point off the shelf. Lessons to be learned!
