A Strategic 32.5 km{14 miles} Bridge linking Mainland Shanghai China with Yanshan Port opened Decemember of 2005 in Donghai-Just outside Shanghai-Yangshng is expected to become the Biggest Deep Water in North East Asia when completed in 2010. construction of the "S" shape bridge took just two and a half years to complete and cost 10 Billion "Yuan"-A Yuan = 0.129133899 U.S. Dollars, so we are talking around 1.2 Billion in US currencey. which included 30% over runs on the orginal budget due to piling difficulties.some have said the "S" shape is to keep drivers from being mezmorized by driving the long bridge, while others speculate the "S" curve helps the tides not push as hasrd against the pilings, but rather allow them to move along bridge than under it without forcing tide against the whole structure.
The biggest complaint by locals is that this bridge does not allow for quicker travel, because it curves so much, while others say this bridge takes you to where nobody really wants to go.
