Salmonella Problem in a Nutshell
Federal Health Officials launched a criminal investigation against Peanut Corp: of America's Blakely, Georgia peanut processing plant last week. It was there that the contaminated shipments of peanuts and products orginated. January 30th 2009, investigators announced they had discovered food producers in most states are not required to alert health regulators if internal tests show possible contamination at their plants.
Some familiar names on the recall list include, but are not just limited to the following manufactures.(There are approx 70 of them total):
General Mills,Austin Crackers,Famous Amos,Keebler,Little Debbie,NutriSystem,Jenny Craig,Zone Perfect,
Country Maid,Wal-Mart.
Remember Not even our pets are safe, many pet food products contain peanut by products such as:
"Grreat Choice Dog Biscuits"
The recall included produts from
August 21st, 2008-January 19th, 2009
SYMPTOMS of SALMONELLA POISONING include: Fever,Diarrhea,Nausea,Vomiting, and Abdominal Pain. In most cases, people recover after a couple of days. Very young children and elderly or those with weak immune systems may be especially at risk of developing more serious illness.
