When Last we left our Heroes... The Story so Far...
8/7/2004 - The Journey Begins... The Group met in the city of Watergate, in the Kingdom of Corinis. After less than an hour of sleep they were awoken by undead crawling out of the sea to assault the living. Townsfolk slain by these creatures invariably rose as undead themselves. After regrouping at the Temple of Akaeris, the group took the commission given them by the priests to seek out and eliminate the source of the invasion. Returning to the sea, Ellavanna tracked the creatures to a cave which Richter identified as part of the city's sewers. They entered the tunnel searching out the mastermind of the infestation.

8/21/2004 - The Plot Thickens In the sewers the group encountered a new breed of undead, clawed horrors which were as durable as zombies but swift as skeletons that crawled on the walls faster than a man could run. After tracking the undead back to the source, they fought and drove off a vampire spawn who employed incredibly incompetant undead lackeys. Though the vampire spawn escaped, the heroes learned of a Sabbat to be held two nights hence in the cemetery. Ellavanna has grown stronger in her faith and closer to the high priest, Brother Geoffery. She caught a pickpocket, a 10 year old boy named Derek, and turned him over to be trained by the priest so that he may help destroy undead like the ones who slew his parents. Brother Geoffery offered to take the group to patrol for undead and they fought a large group of ghouls, skeletons and zombies who were being drawn by the presence of a wraith.
BLOCK UPDATE 8/28/04 - 10/9/04 The party gathered with some of the strongest warriors in Watergate to put a halt to the vampiric sabbat to be held in Watergate's graveyard. Sir Dunric, and Brother Geoffery prepared to face the vampires while our heroes more humble task was to keep the undead at bay. The companions reached the cemetary just as the sabbat ritual reached its peak. The 5 vampires through ritual magic turned a sacrificed woman into a powerful malevolant spirit known as a Nightwalker. The vampires fought the heroes of Watergate with the aid of the newly formed Nightwalker, but the heroes proved too much for them. As the last vampire fell in battle a new figure appeared as if from nowhere; a mail-clad warrior astride a masive nightmare who appeared to hold sway over the nightmare. He warned those gathered that he was not their friend, but to spread the word that those who were irresponsible of Mytheris' gifts would have those gifs taken from them. With that he retreated into the Aether taking the Nightwalker with him. After the battle, Brother Geoffery contracted the group to take a letter to the High Clerist of Akaeris in Dharmiir concerning the events taking place in Watergate. Not wanting to travel alone, Richter and Dolomite booked the group to guard a Scrivener's caravan from Watergate to Dharmiir, but before the group could leave, the caravan was sabotaged. Dolomite left via the Scrivener's Unnatural Gate to search for repair parts in the city of Krom. There he met with Keln and Roch who, after helping him secure replacement parts, agreed to acompany him back to Watergate and from there Dharmiir. On the road, the companions fought off attacks from undead, bandits, and winter wolves, but were fortunate enough to meet the High Clerist of Akaeris herself, travelling against them on the road to Watergate. Richter delivered his message and continued on the road until the companions reached the Lordcity of Dharmiir. Once in the city, our heroes set about ordering new equiptment from Hrothgar Rungermiir and Thuriil Morovan. After that, they split up. Dolomite went to the Academy of Wizardry where he set about trading magical scrolls. Ellavanna went off to the Cathedral of Akaeris and met Thesathias Amakiir, a former Daiken Sentinel who now hunts undead for the church. Richter went off to the Ivory Tower and spoke with the Archmage Arkol. After hearing the details of their journey, Arkol asked Richter to gather his team for a special job. An hour later gathered at the Peacock Inn, Arkol related the legend of Dakkon Blackblade to the companions. The Archmage agreed to enchant weapons for the group in exchange for sending them investigating the site where the archmage himself had fought and imprisioned the powerful Death Knight 30 years ago. The first stop for our heroes was the outpost of Cador. After braving the wilderness for a second time, they arrived in the small trading outpost, and everyone stayed the night at the Cat's Eye with the exception of Ellavanna who did not have the funds to do so. The Cat's Eye was the pleasure spot of the rough outpost, and the companions found companions of their own for the night. Ellavanna however stayed at the crossed swords. The tavern has a reputation for its mostly non-human clientele. After staying the night at their various inns, The party met up at the crossed swords. Their plans to stay inCador for a few days were cut short when a man in the tavern dropped dead shortly after they had discussed their plans. Examination of the body revealed that he had already been dead for at least a day. Unnerved by this and the further revalations from Brother O'Malley at the Shrine of Need, the companions decided to move out directly. Making a deal with some Orcish traders to procure a guide, they set out over the frigid wastelands of Western Corinis.
10/16/2004 - Exit Light... After a week of travel, the heroes came upon their objective, a mountain stronghold which once had been the home of the Death Knight Dakkon Blackblade. At one time mighty gates barred the way, but the only trace of this legendary defense was marks where the hardware had once been bound to the living rock. Our heroes led by the ranger Ellavanna, entered the fortress only to be ambushed by Moblins. Dispatching them, they moved further into the kep and came upon what appeared to be the throne room of Lord Dakkon. After several more mishaps and encounters, the party retreated to their camp with the knowledge that the dark clerics of Mytheris were indeed active in the ruins. As the party slept, a dark elf Assassin crept close, but thanks to the alertness of the guards, he fled only to be chased down and taken captive, critically wounding Ellavanna in the process. As the drow refused to talk, Dolomite used a scroll to send a message to the Archmagus, who appeared in person to impart more information about the ruins and the battle of his youth. After the sun reached it's zenith, the party ventured in once again intending to use the teleportation trap in the throne toom to circumvent most of the defenses, but found it occupied by a black wizard and his body guards, after ambushing this party and killing the mage and one guard, the second guard surrendered! This young ryshenki man identified himself as Tachibana Ichiro, a Ronin. In exchange for his life, the young mercenary informed them of what he knew about his late employer. Dolomite figured that he might as well benefit from a guard and offered to buy the ronin's contract. Ichiro agreed, and accompanied the group to the dungeon level...
10/30/2004 - ...Enter Knight! After battling numerous followeers of the cult of Mytheris, the party reached the secret door to the pit where Arkol had sealed the Death Knight away three decades earlier. Defeating the Hydra guardian the heroes made their way down into the pit beneath the castle to find the leaders chanting a ritual to break the archmage's seal! Rather than interrupt the ritual, the heroes retreated to the guardian chamber intending to use Dolamite's scroll to summon the Archmage. As they neared the top of the pit, they felt a palpable aura of evil well up from the pit below and dispaired in the knowledge that they were too late. The Death Knight, Lord Dakkon Blackblade walked Kajir once more. Sumoning the Archmagus Arkol, the heroes hastily retreated through a portal back to Dharmiir. The companions were debriefed by the elder mage, who also recommended going to the cathedral to return a sacred relic of Akaeris. The companions were taken into the presence of the High Clerist Miranda herself. The group presented her with the artifact, Saria's Mace, and were rewarded handsomely for their efforts. The party decided to stay the week in Dharmiir at Arkol's request and seperated for the week. Ellavanna spent most of it in the company of her mentor Thesathias Amakiir, while Dolamite went off to study at the Academy of Wizardry. The week draws to a close uneventfully and the heroes wonder what will happen now that Dakkon has been freed...
11/13/2004 - Getting their Game on... As the companions break in Dharmiir for some well-deserved R&R, they are astounded to learn the King Trevor himself in in the lordcity for a tournament. Inspired, some of the companions decided to compete and Richter managed to win the Archery competition beating out Thesathias Amakiir, who had been favored to win. Refreshed, the companions met with Arkol to discuss a new mission. It seems that Thirria, Thesathias' vampiric sister, had been seen in Daiken heading up some undead activity. Concerned that Thesathias might miss something crucial in pursuit of vengence, Arkol bade the companions go along to help.
11/17/2004 - Meanwhile, back at the ranch... Informed by Grant Dynasta of the Reavers that a rift between Kajir and the Pit had opened somwhere in the Plains of Glass, Lady Miranda has sent her grandson Gideon to gather a team to investigate. Only one day out from the capitol of Sithras Province, the strike force was beset by Retriever Demons who attempted to "retrieve" Grant. While the group was easily able to repell the demons, it left them questioning why the demons of the Pit wanted their enigmatic guide so badly...
11/27/2004 - A Day in the life... Stopping in Cador, the heroes were once again sidetracked by an urgent letter from Arkol. Allyn, nephew and heir of Lord Khulvan had gone missing in the Orclands to the West. With Keln and Roch sick, the group hired Karl, a Minotaur mercerary, as well as Carissa, a strong-willed guide to better their chances of finding the boy. Two days out, the group was attacked by Chain Devils. With the presence of such unnatural creatures being completely abnormal, Thesathias and Ellavanna found and follwed their tracks back to a secluded temple to Sarigoth. Delving into the temple the heroes battled the priests and their Ice Elemental minions, but upon reaching the final room, were confronted by Magnus Endrin, the Warlock who helped to free Dakkon Blackblade! The Warlock declined to battle the group, leaving behind a Bone Devil and an Erinyes to destroy the hapless adventurers. Upon defeating the devils, Dolomite cast a Sending to Arkol requesting further aid, and with his assistance, they found and rescued Allyn. Returning to Dharmiir via Arkol's Gate the group presented Allyn to his Uncle, Lord Khulvan. Khulvan asked if any among the group was willing to swear fealty to his Barony. Richter being the only one who stepped forward, Khulvan bade him kneel, and Knighted him. In thanks for their assistance, the Lord granted the group a keep, and some minor holdings half a day's ride from Dharmiir under the control of Sir Richter, his new vassal.
