The Transformation

One of the first things changed into the 88 were the fuel and barke lines, master cylinder and brake booster. This installation was a little tricky. Tech Tip: Remember to install the brake and fuel line together as they share some common hardware. The brake booster attaches through the firewall to four bolts that also hold the clutch and brake pedal assembly up. The brakes in the back are the same on both cars but the front brakes are larger on the 8 cylinder. The cat back section of the exhasut has to be installed prior to rear end installation. Only the driver's side rear exhaust hanger can be used for the new dual exhasut setup. Don't think that the hanger above the rear end is the same because it's not. You will need the rest of the hangers from the 8 cylinder.

The 302 went in smoothly. It looks right at home in the new notchback. We put on new BBK headers as the studs on the old stock headers had seen better days. We bolted a factory hollowed h pipe that was on my 91 Notch originally. We do have an h pipe with cats from the 85 but the oxygen sensor bungs were welded up making it useless right now. The 92 had a Holley Annihilator Ignition Sysytem that is making its way over. The box is bigger than an MSD box and needs to be mounted inside the car. We are putting it where the stock factory amp was.

Here is the completed interior. Interesting color scheme. Using the 92 dash made installation easier. Notice the control module for the Holley Strip Annihilator Ignition system. Below is the soon to be hooked up tach and gauge pod.
