NOW we try to describe the methodology of urban recreational site selection & people participation in local park design by VITULA
In this project we used most of instruments , tools & soft wares that help us in digital & also VIRTUAL thinking for best decideing . GIS (Geographical Information systems) , VRIS(Virtual Reality Information Systems) , PPGIS(People Participation GIS), Multicriteria analysis, Virtual simulations , Web site design and .... are the famous technologys that help us in creating VITULA(Virtual Information Technology for Urban LAndscapes) .
The first step was selecting a case study for implementing this project . For this purpose three districts of Tehran municipality (2,6,7 districts) were selected ( right picture)
then creating database for urban parks, classification of parks in three category (as: local parks, regional parks & district parks), Importing all spatial data & attribute data in GIS media for multicriteria analysis, Modelize the coverages and thematic maps (like data overlay , compatibility analysis & ....),Virtual simulations and other ways of analysis of features was second step of urban recreational site selection . By use of special urban models like measuring the standard radius of useful operation space for each class of urban parks, measuring the special weigh value for deteremining the amount of compatibility of each urban landuse with proposed scenario(based on Mcharg's researchs), characterizing selected parks based on dominant urban landuse around of each park & .... the third step of urban parks site selection was implemented .
As you now each urban landuse based on urban standards (for example the result of Alexander method in Pattern of language book)has a special radius of useful operation space . So we classify the urban parks and measure this radius in GIS (Arcinfo,Autocadmap,Arcview) and by combination of this layer with another analytical coverages we access to a final layer that show us the demands & nodemands of urban space for constructing new parks. this model also say us the kind of selected parks based on around landuse & situations .
In last step we approached the final model of best arrange for urban parks so selecting a sample area among the site selected and preparing that for environment design & participate the local people in creating there settelment were final attempt in introduceing
VITULA.
this project was managed based on information of TEHRAN GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION CENTER in the last year of century & delivered as my research at TEHRAN UNIVERSITY . I am Mehran Ghoddosi the technical counselor & GIS specialist of Tehran municipality & TGIC , Master of Environment design from Tehran University .
