Debut in the Danis league with Slagelse
In Slagelse's first league match, Mia and Camilla had the pleasure
of meeting their former club FIF, which in the meantime has been
reduced to a team of a much lower standard due to many new unexperienced
players and most of the old forces leaving the team except of Mette
Vestergaard and Camilla Frederiksen. Slagelse had many good moments,
esp. Hong who showed how dangerous she can be even when nursing
an injury. Also Mia made some spectacular shots while Camilla's
role was more of assisting goals. Slagelse won 30-20. Even so, Anja
was not satisfied with her team, as they made too many technical
errors and missed five penalties.

New idol web pages
Camilla and Mia have got their new web pages on f-reklame
who manages their interests. Unfortunately for you the text is just
in Danish but there are a few pictures - and the opportunity of
writing to them and asking all the questions you can come to think
of, order autographs etc..

Camilla og Mia to Slagelse!
Then they made up their minds: Camilla and Mia accepted Anja's
offer of joining Slagelse. Ever since Anja started as a coach in
Slagelse, she has tried to get Camilla to join her, but Camilla
was happy enough with FIF and wanted to wait and see what Anja could
do. Now Slagelse is in the first division, has bought a lot of good
players and have loads of sponsors. In the meantime FIF faced severe
problems as a club, which sent the team crashing for the bottom
of the division. FIF could not handle the obligations it requires
to have a top team and financially they could hardly afford players
like Camilla and Mia. If you like to win, FIF is not the place to
be at the moment, so either Camilla was planning to stop playing
or to go somewhere else for her last two years as a player (she
wants to stop when she turns 30). She has no hard feelings towards
FIF, as she also makes it clear that it is the best club she has
played for, a club which has always treated her well.
So from the sinking ship of her childhood team, Camilla climbed
on board Anja's new flashy speed boat and of course took Mia with
her. This vessel both has an excellent captain, a map with an x
next to Champions League and Danish Championship, money in the cargo,
local support and a fresh crew of the best players available.
The team: Camilla Andersen, Mia Hundvin, Stinne Boesen, Mette Melgaard,
Sharon Cain, Hong Jeong-Ho, Jockelyn Tienstra, Marlene Andersen,
Camilla and Louise Stilling, Jannie Zeeberg and perhaps Grit Jurack,
if Anja succeeds in "renting" her for two years - negotiations will
take place in May.
Camilla has a contract for two years with a back door saying one
year, if she is not thriving there. Mia is still young and keen
on going on for some longer time, as it may take more than two years
to get the team played together. To Ekstrabladet Mia says: "I have
played on many teams where the club promised that we would win something
great, but this is the first time I actually dare to believe in
it." To B.T. she states: "I have been under pressure but now I am
relaxed and I have become more stabil in my play. I think it is
due to the fact that I have had more peace" (than in Norway).
Camilla also believes in Anja and her ambitions. " It is now that
I have to prove that I am not a player of yesterday. When I get
some good players around me and the best handballer in the world
as a trainer, I believe in my own strength. I can contribute with
some routine and give support outside the court", she says. The
handball philosophy which Anja stands for, is just the kind that
Camilla likes herself - technical and playfull, no East European
bulldozing as the trend is now. The couple still lives and work/studies
in Copenhagen but are willing to travel the way to Slagelse, if
only some of the training can take place in their hometown.

In the negotiations with FIF, Camilla says it is now her club,
that must play a card. "One is always tempted by the other offers,
but right now I play for FIF and I have my job at Rejsegalleriet,
and I wan't to keep that no matter what. Handball is not everything
and it does not have top priority right now. But I still have some
good years left, wether with FIF or somewhere else, time will tell"
she states to B.T.

Camilla considers to quit handball
In the article Camilla
overvejer stop in B.T., we can read that Camilla not only has
her doubts about wether she wants to prolong her contract with FIF
or not, but also if she wants to continue her handball career at
all. During the past few weeks, she has thought about her future
within the sport, and for the first time it has occurred to her,
that she might want to stop. She finds, that she has played for
so many years and achieved all there is. "I really have to consider
wether I want to spend so much time on this thing", she states.
Soon she will have to make her mind up to sign the new contract
or not. In other papers (eg Norwegian Dagbladet
we can read that Mia Hundvin considers changing clubs to Anja Andersen's
team Slagelse: "It is a small club with many strong sponsors, a
good management and audience. All factors which make it easier to
become a top team than it is the case with a team in Copenhagen",
Mia states. Slagelse, which has just entered 1.st division is out
shopping for new players but will not reveal anything for the next
couple of weeks. But if Mia moves to Slagelse, Camilla would have
join her, wouldn't she?" Go to my forum and tell us what you think.

Pytlick tries to make Camilla return
Pytlick attempts the impossible: to make Camilla return to the
national team (or the remains of it). He is also on his knees for
Tonje Kjrgaard and Maja Grnbek, who also quit after the Olympics
in Sydney. I am quite sure that his pleas are in vain. Their minds
are made up, and they are happy with their "new lives". Furthermore,
there is not much to return to in the first place. See the brutto
team for the "new" national team and you'll see what I mean.

The best league in the world
Camilla states in an article in Jyllands-Posten, that she agrees
in the often claimed fact that the Danish league is the best in
the world. But only if that means the most broad and varied league.
In her opinion, the Danish league plays the most spectator friendly
kind of handball, the kind that is in accordance with Camilla's
own values about the game. "It is no coincidence, that the majority
of the remaining teams in the Europe Cup tournament are East European.
The rest of us get shocked when we play away from Denmark. The opponents
play to survive and their spectators - nearly all men - are nationalistic
and bombard us with all kinds of stuff." Camilla also feels that
handball has become more physical and thereby detereorating.

Camilla's injurie healed
Camilla is back after a period of time, where she nursed her injured
shoulder. Very unusual for her to be injured in the first place.
Perhaps all the stress and fuss about the club has made her more
vulnerable. But her return also gave FIF
its first victory for a loong time. After nine lost matches in a
row, FIF has now started to win again. Follow the team's development
via the link above.

Valentine's Day card
Camilla and Mia have created a Valentine's card for the benefit
of the AIDS Foundation in Denmark. It depicts two purple hearts
dancing within a larger red heart.

FIF in a crisis
Camilla and Mia's Danish team FIF
is in trouble. Not only on the court, where the women's team has not
won any match since 19. November (and is slipping out of Champions
League) but also in the team's management, where their board just
has been replaced. Now their coach Per Skaarup will also leave his
job after the end of the season. The players feel psychologically
exhausted and it is hard to lose all the time - esp. for the players
who are also on the unfortunate national team.
Camilla and Mia have suddenly closed down their fansites at idol.dk.
However, they plan to make their own common site - place and time
unknown as yet.

Laser operation successful
Camilla's eye operation went well, and she finds it a miracle that

Camilla leaves national team
Camilla has informed coach Jan Pytlick, that as from October 2000
she no longer wishes to be part of the Danish national team.
Happy now, all you narrow-minded tabloids, so busy with exposing
Camilla's private life instead of her sporting results?
We support your decision as it feels right for you to make it,
but also understand how disappointed we are and frustrated that
it could come to this. You had many more years to go and many more
tricks to show us.
On her homepage Camilla writes that she made the decision already
in August. "Actually, it is not because I am tired of playing handball,
I am only 27. It is just that I can't take all what comes along
with it outside court. It becomes too much and too hard. And as
we will be in the same pool as Norway in the European Championship,
I can predict what will happen and I simply won't expose myself
and Mia to that again, that is for sure."
